Weed Smell in Public

Thank you. I'm the exact same way, including alcohol. People are free to do as they please - or should be - but don't involve me in it. I just don't participate in something I consider stupid - and yes, that includes smartphones!

Yup , I likely treat corn syrup / sweets / carbs much the same way . Personal choices . I'm not going to dog someone for eating a ton of carbs .

I don’t celebrate doing dumb shit, but I’m careful to celebrate those who never did anything or who conquered addiction. I view us as each having our own little fucked up journeys and tests, and they are our own and know one else’s to conquer.

None of us have walked in other’s shoes or been dealt with whatever fuckery was placed upon them.

BTW, there are benefits to microdosing psilocybinand and THC. The big reason for why studies aren’t well established is because of fucked up federal rules placing THC and psilocybin in the same category as heroin so there’s no federal grant money for science. This is largely because it doesn’t make money for pharmaceutical companies who are more than happy to feed pills that will destroy us. Obama basically told the states he didn’t care about weed and told them to deal with it. But it’s still illegal federally so you have VA docs who are happy to learn about our experiences even though they are forbidden from recommending it.

Smoking weed is for checking out. Getting drunk is for checking out…the hard stuff does the same with more immediate and typically devastating results. We know it’s bad because it hurts you and others around you.

Also, if you microdose THC or psilocybin, that means you will never feel high. However, you must possess discipline that many might not have in a sustainable manner. You can’t reliably microdose smoking weed for obvious reasons, and its effect is far more on your brain than your organs due to how it targets your body.

And, if you are getting high, then you are doing it for more than pain or PTSD reasons (etc).

I’m also worried about sugar and preservatives effect on our present and future health. Our foods have been perverted on deeply concerning levels.

My apologies if this post lacks necessary nuance, I’m walking with my phone when I should be jogging for the first time in years lol.

I forgot about this. For several years the smell near downtown Phoenix was VERY strong. Just driving on I-10 was almost unbearable.

Phoenix city inspectors looking into “skunk” smell on I-10

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - The City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department is in the process of inspecting two marijuana facilities near Interstate 10 and 24th Street after the city received complaints about a “skunk” smell on the freeway. “I don’t like the smell,” said Freddy Vargas, who works in the area. Vargas says the smell is a regular topic of conversation among coworkers and others in the industrial park, located southwest of Sky Harbor. “It smells like skunk weed,” said Vargas.

One of the marijuana businesses sells cannabis products. It is called JARS Cannabis. JARS did not respond to a request for comment. The other facility is a grow house, where marijuana plants are grown in a warehouse. The address is not a public record under Arizona’s marijuana law.

Marijuana plants give off a pungent odor as a result of compounds called terpenes, which are created naturally by the plants. “There’s a lot of odors that are produced during the growing process itself,” said Dana Pack, vice president of sales for Fogco. Fogco is a Chandler-based company known mainly for its cooling systems. But Fogco also sells odor-control products used in wastewater treatment, solid waste, and the marijuana business.

“We actually have a proprietary product that we actually treat the cannabis odors with,” said Pack. He says marijuana businesses are generally required to have an odor control plan in place. He says Fogco’s product reduces the odor by 98 percent. Pack says Fogco is in talks with the Marijuana businesses near I-10 and 24th Street.

A spokesperson for the City of Phoenix told Arizona’s Family the marijuana businesses at issue are required to have odor control systems in place. According to figures from the Arizona Department of Transportation, 250,000 vehicles pass by that location every day.

Lots of truth in this. Very well said. (y)

I respect your experiences and thoughts as well.

Thanks, man. I genuinely appreciate that.

I am not without my demons and sordid tales of debauchery. Like you said, "journeys and tests"...

I don't smoke, and sometimes the smell is annoying. But legal grounds to mess with other people over it? Grow a pair, nancy!

If it isn't impacting children then keep the crying to yourself. This is far too much like the vegan karens who complain about meat being bbq'd.

The legal precedents from "you hurt my feelings" are bad enough as it is

I don't smoke, and my lungs were half destroyed in childhood by second hand smoke. So you'll forgive me if I disagree. Nobody should have to breathe that crap. You're right to swing your arms ends at my nose and you're right to destroy your lungs ends at my lungs.

Yeah, downtown reeks like Bob Marley.

I quit drugs years ago and alcohol early this year, and I went back to the gym.

Reporter to Grouch Marx: " What did you think of the movie Samson and Delilah?"
Groucho Marx: "No picture can hold my interest where the leading man's tits are bigger than the leading lady's"

This wasn't about the smell of someone toking in public, it was about the overpowering stench of two commercial marijuana facilities in his business area. There were complaints from miles around the area, and from commuters driving through on the interstate.

I know. I suspect that if it was a dairy farm, waste treatment site or other facility producing foul odors the "morality police" would have STFU and gone about their business. This is my whole point. It isn't hurting anyone, it is a bunch of karens complaining about the smell of your bbq because they are morally opposed to eating animals....

If it was smoke from people getting high, public intoxication, etc then i would agree

No, we have had lots of issues with those exact things, along with putrid smells from semiconductor wafer fabs, and they have received the same level of scrutiny and action.

This video is much worse than a person smoking weed near me.

I'm in CA and it's legal. Many freeway exits in some cities around me have 3+ weed shops within a block or so.

Only thing that bothers me is when people smoke too close to where my kids are. A few months ago we went to a popular taco stand. There was a guy smoking across the street. We were standing a few feet from him waiting for the light and he was just puffing away with my 3 kids close by. Just keep it discreet and not where people are going to be walking through your cloud. I don't care if I can smell it, just don't want my kids breathing second hand smoke.
