Morning all.

I pride myself on preventative maintenance — understatement: anyone that owns a TJ is or should be a master at it.

That said, ashamed to say, I missed this one — caught it in time: randomly discovered that all 4 tire valve stems had serious deterioration — cracked and brittle;

After attending a short night class at YouTube University, the fix was easy. (achieved without taking the tire off the rim — placed a jack under the axle to prevent the frame from lowering when each tire was deflated)

(Note: the valve tool kit shown in the vid is sold through Amazon Global Store UK so shipping times are increased — alternatives options are easy to find)

What's the date code on the tires?

-Mac

1918. M/T. All 4 tires are in great shape — treads, sidewalls... zero degradation — which is the reason I didn't catch the valves. To look at the old valves, there was no indication — it's only when you bend them do you see the cracks.
