What did you do to your TJ today?

I think you meant to reply to the other guy, but if you got any tips to make 110 flux not look like shit then I'm all ears lol

Yup, quote fail.

Really depends on the thickness of the the material I think. I had a Linc 140T for a while back in the day, I had to kinda swirl the puddle on anything thicker almost like a falling leaf pattern. It wasn't ugly but nothing I'd post on Pirate4x4.

Hard to tell if it was poor installation by the PO, or if they just weren’t a good product, but I removed the plastic sill plate protectors about a year ago and was left with this adhesive residue.

Finally got around to heating it up and scraping/rubbing it off. Finished with some duplicolor touch up on all the little nicks and scratches that have accumulated all over the place for the last 20 years.

Did you find anti-spatter spray to be helpful/worthwhile?

You're definitely on the right track, because this set of 10 was markedly better than my first set of 10 yesterday.

These 10 beads I intentionally went slower, and tried to concentrate on the trailing puddle vs the wire, to try to gauge the weld. And I turned the shade dial down to 9 from 11, and I could see much better. I'll try the spotlight, I never thought of that.

I do definitely need to dial in the off hand technique, as you can clearly see when I jump a little. I need movement to be smooth and fluid, which it is not right now. But I'm going to put in the time to practice.

Thank you for your insight/critique, I really appreciate it!!!

Way back when I was learning my trade as a signwriter I knew a Welder who would play music loud or hum a beat in his head..and weld to the beat of the music… he said it would help him keep even weld

Finished with my roll cage additions. I couldn’t find anyone in the area to weld one so I added the bolt on including the floor and frame mounts. It won’t have to hit the wall at 120 MPH, but it might tip over on its side at some point. It at least adds to the factory bar.

Well, the picture now shows the additions to the roll bar…… I know, I know…. It’s not a roll cage unless you have to climb over it. I didn’t know there was anyone in the area who could build a roll cage until after I finished this.

I also got new tires all around, 35” Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT’s.
