Where to mount air compressor?

interesting! How many large tire fillings can you get from a CO2 bottle and what size bottle do I have to find a spot for?

Never mind: I found that a p10 power tank can fill my 35’s 32 times. Now all I have to do is learn about a power tank.😊

Further edit: Never mind. $600 or more for this fancy tank? No thanks. Now back to thinking about mounting the $200 compressor.😳😊

You might be able to DIY the CO2 bottle for your $200 budget. I have the links for DIY’ng someplace. I opted for an ARB under hood compressor because of the small size. Hasn’t let me down yet.

32 tires? I find that hard to believe, but it depends on what pressures at which you start and end.

Years ago, I was airing down at a trailhead as a guy in a big mall crawler JK on 35s or 37s was airing back up using a CO2 tank. He decided to complain to me about how awesome his CO2 tank was, but it is only enough for one trail.

I knew this was weird, so I asked him what he airs down to. "25psi," he confidently replies. I tell him that is my normal street pressure, what do you fill up to? "45psi", he confidently replies. I told him that is why your tank only lasts one trail. Also, I air down to 8psi.

He was quiet the next few minutes and drove away on his over-inflated tires.

My last 10lb tank cost me about $175 at a welding supply shop. Fixed regulator was $50 or $60. So I agree with that budget.

I switched to Napa compressor for less bulk vs the co2 tank. Napa compressor is really quick.

That sounds more like it. So I would need the tank, a bracket of some sort, a regulator and then fill the tank. How much does it cost at the gas supply to refill the tank?

I have one of these and find it difficult to not recommend it, despite my years with a York and now an ARB Twin.

Used to do that with ATV tires. Haven’t encountered that issue with the tires I run on the jeeps.

Yes, I think the reason I have been skeptical about reseating a bead on the trail is that I have had some tough times seating a bead at a tire machine. I think in most of those cases it was a mismatch of tire and wheel size. If things match properly, seating should be easy.

With the 10 pound tank, I can fill my four 40's from 8ish to 25ish three times (meaning 12 tires). Not enough left in the tank at that point to do another complete round of four - if I recall correctly, about enough to fill one or two more tires.

Yeah, they are not cheap. And for me, I have two fully outfitted 10 lb tanks. I carry one in the trailer to easily swap into the rig after three rounds. I also carry a fully outfitted 20lb tank in the trailer. It does get expensive.

That 32 came from a chart on a website called Power Tank or something like that. I didn’t question its accuracy because I was just looking for a rough answer. I needed to know if it was more like 1 or 100. Also I said “filled,” but they were giving a pressure range like you guys were, not actually filling from empty.

I have 2 different Viairs, 4 different ARB’s and agree that Milwaukee is my preferred and handiest compressor due to its portability and ease of use.

For onboard air I like my dual ARB.

No idea on refilling. When I was looking into it my plan was to have my neighbor fill it for me.. he owns a fire extinguisher company.
