Genright mini boats on an LJ

You'll learn more by not using a rotabroach. Use a dull sharpie to mark the centers, remove the rockers, and then drill them. If the bolts don't line up, you get to learn even more skills!

Maybe that's why some people buy a 2nd Jeep?

Do you use the rotabroach while the armor is in place using the armor hole as a guide?

I’m doing some new armor and taking better notes this time around…

They’re the second best option to Savvy (which are unavailable).

At least wait for a decent sale. I got mine just a couple weeks ago for around 400 under retail, which makes it more manageable.

That savings can go right back into replacing their little angle iron tub backer with a full sized aluminum one and the tube step with a lower profile rub rail.

X2 on getting your own nutsert tool. I also bought stainless 304 nutserts instead of the brass ones. And 304 hardware. Ended up putting nutserts in lots of places...holding up the gas tank...filler neck screws. Doing everything in M8 or M5 for common wrench sizing.

Brass and zinc plated steel are not the same thing.

And get some Phillips hardware.

And at that point, why not just make your own slider and put the holes in the right places. 😉

As a bolt on solution that works for the vast majority of folks, the GR is pretty dang good.

Finally you may be starting to see things the right way :)

I can acknowledge the design features. Whether they matter is an individual decision.

None of these are deal breakers for me, and the infamous step is actually a benefit for my use.

Steelyace, thank you for the great write up and I am about to do the same install on my 04 Rubicon and have a couple questions for you.

- Did you grind off the old nutserts for the lower fender flare attachments (thinking I should do that for the factory rock slider attachments and flares)
- How come you didn't add a rock slider attachment to the front fender (thinking to add one just to minimize any potential relative movement between them

Thank you,

Scott

I honestly didn't remember, thank goodness for pictures. 😂. Yes....yes I did grind those off!

And I didn't attach it to the fender because genright didn't have provisions for it and I'm guessing there is a reason they didn't, but maybe not. Also it might get in the way for future plans 😉!
