What did you do to your TJ today?

Top down, cool evening, met family at local State Park - had a blast. Not one for top down in real cool weather, but it was great. View attachment 319925
Cool evening drives top down doors off are awesome....dusk is a magical time of the day

If I may, you should wait till The Forum has spoken before tackling the next project.
Ha, that might be the best course of action. I was cussing all over the garage.
It is tricky because the loop elongates- best way is to use safety wire til it is just right- then mark with a sharpie and install the crimp.
Safety wire? I was just going to use some vice grips to hold the place today. That was one of my mistakes yesterday, also need a new crimper, one I have is garbage.

The vice grips are so heavy when you go into the vehicle to test the travel action they’re going to take up any slack

Safety wire is just thin stainless steel wire that you can twist it will eventually break but you can get it for the tight

I purchased some good crimpers and man they are really worth the money

Good point, I’ll try some wire. I just got a new cable and have it routed. Unlike yesterday I’m going to wait until I have another set of hands to lock it in. Also going to get some new crimpers.

The brand that Harbor freight sales that has the burgundy handles is pretty good I can’t remember the name- I was so stupid I didn’t realize it had an insulated and non-insulated set up and went right through some wire Insulation- I had never had a good set before-

It is a little aggravating that it is a one shot deal - A barrel nut at Lowe’s might work - But it’s going to really spread the wire strands- Typically you want just a little bit of movement in the throttle before it engages but it doesn’t need to be sloppy- They really do change the game Offroad and can make the difference in ending up on your side or not.

I am picking my getting up some breakfast but I’ve got an idea if you’ll give me a minute I’m going to look at my throttle linkage- There may be a way to do one of these were it’s a little simpler and elimiates the loop-

Hand throttles use a bicycle shifter cable don’t think? I feel like you’re overthinking this…

I have contended that the power we all crave will reveal every chassis shortcoming when things start happening faster.
X2 This is why someone with a CJ-2A is content with their Jeep going down the road at 40 mph.
60 Gross hp. and 5.38 gears reel in the chassis shortcomings, ( and there are many shortcomings ).
The minute a 327 sbc is put in front of that T-90, shit becomes real MUCH faster then it should.

Sometimes we all work so hard to "improve " a TJ , the only path forward is a tandem trailer behind a Cummins.

I’m not going to be finishing it for a bit so you’re good!

Ehh maybe, I just went after it when I needed an extra set of hands and was too impatient to wait.

I have been looking at this off and on for a couple of years because they have made it so hard with that design to hijack the throttle assembly with a 3rd cable- I just took a look at mine and I’ll keep thinking on it I thought I was going to have some kind of an Epiphany -I know exactly what you’re up against-

If this picture helps...

Pulled my Dana 35 cover and drained the oil...was about 300 miles into the initial break in...but I wasn't getting the Eaton E-locker to function...did get it to lock up empty and was able to get it to engage/disengage cover off and empty.

Rigged up my gradiated funnel...twisted off...in a bench vise under the Jeep proped up with 2x4s so I could measure exact amounts and pumped 1.8 quarts out of the funnel...man that lube locker gasket sure made this a quicker project...

And the e-locker worked! Guessing I overfilled the diff...plus 85w140...

Not much glitter either!

And I wired up my in cab winch controls and troubleshot/schemed how to get my master arm switch to work on the lockers...I put a switch in front of the shifter that interrupts ground so I wouldn't accidentally switch on the lockers...there are two grounds on the Carling switches...one for the upper and lower indicator lights...I have one for the dash lights always grounded and the switch side for the relay trigger through the arm switch...but somehow they are internally bused together. Also need to rig a ground triggered relay for a winch power light indicator.

Did you use the slot for where the cruise control mounts?

Installed a new exhaust manifold on my 2.5l. Took me about 5 hours start to finish, probably an hour of that was cleaning gunk out of my intake. Also had the cut the bolts of the flange between the manifold and the down flow pipe. Other than that it was all smooth sailing. The rear bolt I thought was broke was actually just missing, but I couldn’t see due to the location. Engine was noticeably quieter when I fired it up and smoked like a sum bitch burning the oils off the new cast iron.
