Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

Work from home LJ

I can’t remember, what’s your plan for flares?

Don’t really have one. I hate the cheap Amazon flares that came on jeep when I bought it. I took them off few years ago and never put them back on. Considered highlines but don’t want to cut the body and don’t need the extra clearance.

The likely plan is wrap up the last stuff I need to get out on trails this season and deal with nice to haves next winter. Things like flares, more armor, boat sides, etc.

You could probably find some decent OEM ones on market place or eBay. Maybe just needing some clean up and paint.

I’ve seen some place online between Columbia and Charlotte that sells lots of TJ parts. Can’t remember the name though.

Are you including the hood with "the body"?

FWIW if your rear axle is set up right on 35s, you most likely already need to cut the body a bit to clearance.

Personally, I liked the MCE flares I ran for a bit. They're expensive plastic, but the look was good and they did their job. Now with no flares all my aluminum is pitted and looks like crap, and I've broken two different side mirrors 🤣

yeah. It is set up right and could use some “persuasion”. I’ve held off doing it so far but will have to.

Changed fluid in both diffs after initial 500 mile break in. Fluid looked great. Gears are dead quiet and ready to rock and roll.

I am going to add a compressor for airing up and then be ready for trails. Probably go arb.

Also going to build a tool setup for the back. Probably go pack out drawer setup

I picked up a few pack out pieces and am decently happy with the setup so far. Like anything, I’ll dial it in over the next few weeks. Mounted both to floor with rivnuts.

I won’t keep this stuff back here 24/7. Just when going on trips. I have a similar mount setup in my truck bed.

3 drawer has full socket set, ratchets, wrenches, screw drivers

Box on top of 3 drawer will have backup hardware for jeep. Things like spare control arm bolts.

Half box has fluids, power tools (battery powered impact, ratchets), electrical

Takes 5 seconds to pull from my truck and slide in to jeep. I don’t really need a tool set in my truck day to day but this will help a lot with jeep on trailer setup. Can keep ancillary tools in bed with pack out mounts and grab out of truck if something goes so wrong I can’t repair with main box.

Another 500 or so miles down. Jeep is doing great. Had an issue today I can’t reproduce and am laying in bed thinking about troubleshooting tomorrow.

Drove jeep for hour. Made quick pit stop. After stop, threw jeep in reverse and 5 seconds later it stalled. Like a stick would.

Immediately cranked back up and I drove it another 80 miles today with no issue. It’s never done that before.

I’m assuming I’ll check

IAC
Trans fluid
Battery voltage - this is super low on list
Crank position sensor

Any other brilliant ideas?

My favorite part of the entire build is the big brake kit. I drive my truck most of the week and drive jeep on the weekends.

Every single time I hop back in the jeep the stopping power is wild. Blows my mind every single time.

Just wait until you outboard and custom tune shocks! They all play very well together.

I would actually consider doing this but need to enjoy the jeep for at least one summer since i bought it.....accumulating parts might be a winter to do.

Accumulating is fine, I've been doing it for years prior to doing this.

The one thing I wish I could accumulate more of is time.

well to be fair, my jeep is drivable because you spent time helping me with my gears, so I guess im partly to blame 😂

One day! Just finished this video in the series. Great work!

Ditto! Bought my LJ back and was quickly reminded how good that big brake kit is!

Nice work!
