Truck got an oil change and Jeep finally got leaking pinion seal fixed.
Seal leaked from day 1. New one isn’t leaking yet? Let’s hope it stays that way

Does anyone know if the pinion yoke on jeep Dana 44s are interchangeable?
I broke a bolt off in mine and it’s already in rough shape. Can I just go grab one from junkyard off something like a jeep wj with the Dana 44A?
I can definitely fix the broken bolt but got curious and drive past a junkyard anyway…..

They are not all the same, but similar. If you get one, compare it to what you have.
I grabbed a new yoke from local parts store. They claim this fits a rear 44. I have my other yoke side by side. The new one is shorter. It’s probably fine given Tom woods driveshaft / I’m sure the tiny difference won’t cause any issues.
But does this look right?
(My wife is getting her hair done so car parts are allowed in the house for a few more hours)
It went on fine so I guess it’s ok?

That's what I'm talking about. Minor differences but who knows. The main thing is to make sure the seal rides where it is supposed to and it doesn't get pushed in. The minor difference in the yoke length shouldn't be an issue.
15 min drive in and nothing has blown up yet so I think I’m good. Thanks everyone
100 or so miles into gear break in / shakedown and so far so good! Not long til I can break stuff on the trails
125 miles in and lost some hardware on my brakes. Odd but whatever. Anyone know sizes off top of head? First roadside repair coming right up
I guess this is called brake caliper mounting bolts. Grabbing some from local parts store. These are getting serious lock tight put on em

Half way into my 30 min trip I heard some noise while coming to a stop. Did an initial check through things recently messed with (control arms, track bars, sway bars, steering, driveshafts and exhaust). Didn’t check brakes at all because they’ve been like that for 1k miles or so.
Decided to cut trip short and flip around. 5 minutes later and I pulled into this parking lot with the noise 10x louder.
luckily business owner was super nice and offered to help. He’s a 4Runner guy and got a few Jeep jabs in while he could.

Present to myself arrived today…..this thing is impressive.
I’ve had no problem with curt hitches over the years but this seems like a no brainer for peace of mind. It’s stupid expensive but if you have it for 10+ years I guess it’s reasonable
Yikes! Did you lock tite the first bolts? I'd call Blaine to see if he has bolts he recommends since this is a "don't fuck around (and find out)" kind of part in my book.
Yea…..tell me about it. Will do. I did the bbk 2ish years ago so am not sure. All 4 have loctite on them now.
(To be entirely clear, I am 1000% sure this is my fault. No fault of Blaine or the bbk)

I did not mean to imply any fault directly - no matter what it's a good lesson and I'm really glad you were safe throughout. It's why I won't service my friend's brakes - even though I trust my wife and kids to my work.
