The wipers on my 2005 TJU stopped working. The associated fuse #17 behind the glove box is intact. However, fuse #13 under the hood (accessories) is blown and blows when you plug a new one in. I'm having trouble finding a schematic or information that actually reflects my vehicle. For instance information I've found has different fuse numbers than are in the manual that came with the Jeep. I do have an electrical background, but without the appropriate documentation, it's useless.

Questions...
- Where can I find appropriate schematics for my Jeep?
- What accessories do fuse #13 under the hood feed?

thanks!

I checked this service manual and I've checked the Haynes Repair Manual. Problem is that they both say the wiper is fuse #14, while the owners manual says that fuse #14 is the radio and fuse #17 is the front wipers. Could this have to do with the fact that my Jeep is a TJU (LJ)?
At any rate, neither of those fuses is blown. Fuse #13 (accessories) under the hood keeps blowing though.

Take the Hayne's manual and toss it in the garbage as they tend to do more harm then good with their generalizations.

Looks like you may have a dead short between the Fuse 13 in the PDC and the cab fuse box.

Fuse 13 is referenced on three diagram pages:
8W-10-11, 8W-11-10 & 8W-52-2

OK, now I see how to read this. Awesome manual. I can see that since the fuse is blowing with the ignition off, the short is somewhere between Fuse 13 and the ignition switch. Is it common/possible for the ignition switch to short out in this manner or should I be looking for a connector issue?

The ignition switch as well as the multi function switch.
If it's the ignition switch I would imagine it's the switch itself that failed. Try disconnecting the ignition switch and see if the short is still present.

Looks like the multi-function switch is down-stream from the ignition switch and wouldn't come into play if the ignition switch is off. I will pull the ignition switch and see what's up with that. I need to get a T10-safety Torx first though. I'll let you know what happens.

You can pop the connectors off the ignition switch without removing the switch to diagnose if it's the switch as well as test the terminals.

Glad you found what was causing the issue! I'm sure you won't hurry up and go back to 4 wheel parts anytime soon.
