Your compressor is not engaging. They should be spinning so fast you cannot make them out. Just a circular blur.
You now have a choice.
Take it back to the shop that worked on it or start down the road to repair yourself.
If you choose to do it yourself you are going to have to have a vacuum pump and ac gauges.
Since I have all this equipment I would do it myself. Since you don't, take it back to the shop or take it to another.
There are two of them. The low side (the one you hooked your can to) and the high side, it is on the smaller metal hose and looks exactly like the low side, except a little smaller.
Okay my friend. Thanks for your ongoing help. Sorry for a late update on this as I was on vacation trying to diagnose this while away. Now that I'm home I was able to try out a few things. I bypassed the low pressure switch and the compressor turns on. I let it run and hooked up the gauge that came with a recharge can and it showed that no refrigerant needs to be added. I have a new low pressure switch ready to install. My next question is asking if I need to drain the charge system to install this new switch? Or am I not right in stating that the solution is just the low pressure switch?
Again, thanks for your ongoing help! I've never had to play around with an A/C system before
