Hey guys — as some of you may have seen in a previous post, I found a Mile Marker winch (non working) and stinger bumper for sale on Facebook for $50. I ended up getting everything for $30!

The winch motor ended up needing new brushes, which I replaced and now works fine.

I’m now mounting the solenoid pack but for the life of me, have no idea which cable goes to which post. The solenoid is symmetrical and only has 1/2/3/4 markings, and can’t find something similar online.

What do you guys think?? Should also note the large copper looking bushing things on locations 2 & 4... that aren’t on 1 & 3

Break out your multimeter. Check resistance, report back.

1-2 is
1-3 is
1-4 is
2-3 is
2-4 is
3-4 is

Do you only have the one solenoid, or did it have two?

And, did you get a controller with the winch? What does the end of the cord have, 3 or 4 pins/contacts?

The larger bolts should be to the direct 12v to be able to carry the high amp load. The smaller bolts should be to activate it. So they would be to the switch.
So 2 is to battery terminal
4 is to winch pos.
1 is to the powered switch
3 is to chassis ground to complete the solenoid circuit.

Just first confirm that by running 12v to 1 and ground to 3 that it makes the solenoid switch on the 2-4 contact.

I'd like to another pic, of the one side that we cannot see in the first pics. To see if there are other low-power connections or are those four all that there is. Then we can determine if it is like that thompson solenoid.

The contactor, the black box in your picture, should have seven terminals. The winch remote or switch should only connect to the three smaller terminals that aren't shown in your picture. The four big terminals only connect to the battery and the three terminals on the winch motor.

Edit: the switch will need power and that can be taken from the "+" terminal in the picture they sent but not the green and yellow wires
