I have the quadratec q-series 9k winch with synthetic line. its been awesome ive pulled out a chevy 1500 and a toyota forerunner but never my own rig...i need to push it harder
Thats the one I saw advertised at HF for $300 (Badlands ZXR 12000LB). I need a better front bumper before I get a winch anyways, might as well save up Im thinkin.I have this winch with the wireless remote . I have used it about 3 yrs for various uses and haven't had any issues with it at all . Can't beat it for the price .View attachment 37239

Very good point about its slowness. New winch owners or those looking to buy a winch may believe a winch's line speed to be irrelevant. Afterall you aren't in a rush when you're wheeling right? But line speed is important on some pulls where you're winching the Jeep over a particularly tough longer section of trail where's it's not just a short quick pull. There are often sections in tough trails where you'll be able to drive faster than a slow winch can keep up with at times and cause a fast snarl/birds nest in the winch line. Slow winches work but they can be a PITA in sections of trail where it's not just one quick pull that is needed.I have a superwinch LP8500, I have used it a couple times only for testing. So far I am finding line speed is incredibly slow.
Warn's instructions say to tension it before its first use so it doesn't come pretensioned. An easy way to do that is to pull your parking brake up several clicks to provide the required load and then winch your Jeep up to another Jeep, tree, etc.Just installed a warn m8000. Quick question, does the steel wire come pretensioned or do I need to spool it all out then back in under load?

Did you get stuck in those two trees then change your front fenders to get out?Another Warn XD9000i owner here. Bought it used and older than dirt. It works flawlessly every time I need it. I put the TRE synthetic line on it. This replaced a new Smitty XRC8000 that died before it was 2 years old. Broken gears is what the friend I gave it to said.

Lol. It' a very narrow trail in the PNW with width restrictions. I kind of took the wrong line on that trip! But yes, that is why I chose MCE Flexible Fenders.Did you get stuck in those two trees then change your front fenders to get out?
