As some of you know I bought an 05 TJ Sport last Monday. I've had some time to spend with it so here are a few things I've learned about it.

-The radiator is cracked. Yep, when I test drove it I thought I smelled coolant. After a drive yesterday I smelled it again. Popped the hood and saw the crack. New Denso radiator on order from Rock Auto along with hoses and radiator cap.

-Fog lights are missing. Build sheet said it had fog lights. None when I bought it. You can't even tell they were ever mounted on the bumper. While driving, I noticed a light icon flickering on the dash. Seems it was for fog lights. Then I figured out it had the multifunction switch for fog lights, the fuse and relay installed. I pulled the relay and fuse and that seems to have taken care of the flickering light. I suspect a previous owner removed the fog lights because of the flakey MF switch. I typically don't use fog lights so not really an issue.

-Multifunction switch has issues. (see above). Are there any aftermarket MF switches worth a darn? I see Crown makes one. I want to have one on hand before I take apart and clean the one that is in there now.

-Fuel filler burps gas when filling the tank. Anyway to correct that? On the JK I owned, there was a flapper check valve in the tank filler line.

This thing is a blast. So far I've changed the oil/filter and installed the Crown OPDA.

I have to say the wealth of knowledge on this forum is amazing. I've been on many forums over my many years and this is one of the best.

This looks promising...

The GM part is NOT the fix, it's the temporary bandaid. Read the top of the first post in that thread, and fix the plastic valve itself.

The "burps gas" problem can switch over to the "can't fill" problem. Then you have a bigger problem. The plastic valve mod fixes both problems.

Thanks Gents.

The Denso radiator should be delivered today. I'll do a cooling system rinse and put G05 back in. A proper flush will have to wait for spring.

For the tank burping I'll probably put the "band aid" filler pipe on it for now, then drop the tank for the permanent fix when the weather improves.

Thanks for the suggestions and information.

If your Jeep has many miles on it and you old radiator isn't completely broke just leaking a little, I would do a thermocure flush before installing the new one.

Well this one is a fail. Ordered from Rock Auto and installed today. The fog lights worked but then the turns signals and emergency flashers did not. I did remember to move the flasher relay. Put the old MFS back in and all worked fine, except the fog lights of course.
This MFS is going back to Rock Auto. Guess I'll try a Crown unit next.
