Thanks, Dudes. It looks like you just spent more of my money...

Thanks, Chil. What are engineering filaments, and what do they do for you?
This is a good guide: https://bambulab.com/en-us/filament/guide
Pretty much as you go to the right the filaments get stronger or better at specific things and are harder to print. There's some that are UV resistant while others are not great for that usage, for example.
This is what that hardened nozzle you suggested is for right? Or is there more to it than just that
The fiber reinforced filaments will wear out a standard stainless nozzle much faster, so the hardened steel nozzle and extruder gear are recommended for them.
Anybody here used/tried FreeCAD?
Thanks for all the info, boys. I'm a babe in the woods on this stuff, but a main enjoyment in my life is learning new things - so it looks like I have a lot of enjoyment coming up...![]()
I am one of those weirdos running Linux exclusively
and doesn't want my designs locked up in someone else's cloud
Semper discens, Jeff!...a main enjoyment in my life is learning new things...
chili_pepper, are you using Fusion? I ask because, like you and Mogul345, I'm not a fan of storing anything in the Cloud. I like more control over my stuff. However, with Fusion, I haven't found an easy way to do this. Have you?Again, with you. My designs stay on my network unless I decide otherwise.
When "the Cloud" became a thing, I found it impossible to explain to friends and family that it was just a gimmicky name for someone else's hard drive.

everything I send to the printer goes via the cloud anyway
I fed my P1S and the X1C early on via sd card exclusively, currently I run the X1C in LAN only mode (the PIS found a new home).
I suspect if I ever connect for a live firmware update, it will upload cached print history and performance data (and possibly stored designs) to BL's servers. I could be wrong there but I trust no one when it comes to this stuff.
I print these every so often so my Bambulab watcher/design thief can see it.
