I’ve determined that even though my 3D printer corrected my issue, it’s easier to buy wire already on the spools.

You can run it offline. I started by using a micro sd card. I just got a separate router that I run one of my computers and the printer on, but no internet connection.

As it should be. There is zero reason to attach to the "Cloud" for something like this.

And the trouble with the free version of Fusion 360 is that one of the best tools for converting from a mesh file, which is what your scanner will be able to give you, to a solid body without faceting effects is the Prismatic conversion tool, but it's not in the free version. A few months ago, I got an offer from AutoDesk to buy a year of Fusion for half off, making it about $350-ish (I think), and I didn't do it. I thought they might do that again for Black Friday/Cyber Week, but they didn't. I think it was 25% or 30% off. Not enough discount for this cheap curmudgeon!

M18 battery holders. Not my design, off of Thingiverse.

Can be used to mount M18 batteries in the shop, or in the car. If any of you carry batteries for tire inflators or other tools in your TJ, this could be a convenient way to prevent them from rolling around.

Printed using 3dxtech EZPC in red. 0.25mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 6 top/bottom layers, 30% infill (gyroid). Definitely strong enough to mount in a car.
As long as you shave any sagging overhanging layers after printing, the battery packs lock in and will firmly stay in place even upside down. So no battery packs bouncing around when you roll over.

At least with the X1C, the manual says that if you use the cloud, the "AI" gets updated more frequently. If you run it in LAN mode only, the updates only come with the firmware updates.

I've been using the cloud service. It does feel stupid to have my print job go out to a Chinese server and back just to get over to my "devices I don't trust" VLAN. I'm sure I could run in LAN only mode and punch the right holes in the firewall between the two VLANs. But I'm lazy and it just works.

Here's my latest little part design. Installed an EP26 flasher a few weeks ago when I switched all my exterior lights to LED. Sure, a piece of double sided tape works but this was more fun. Just press fit in from the bottom b/c the flasher's body is tapered.

First day really messing around with free cad. I made a generic 90 degree corner enclosure for a 3” and 1” component speaker combo.

Ran it in the slicer just out of curiosity and found out I would require 250g of filament. Then I played around with a different wall profile to reduce thickness to 5mm.

Very interesting to mess with and I see a lot of potential for my uses. These are clunky designs that are not tailored to the specific angles where the A pillar meets the dash, but I will refine them as I dig deeper into the software.

Very true. I'll fix the glitch, eventually. I just hate messing with routing. Mostly because I can't use a tool like Ansible to manage the config of my router.

If I were doing the same project, I’d download a bambu two piece filament spool and scale it down to the size you need. The locking tab may not scale properly, but the twist lock is a super nice feature and would have made installing the wire super easy

Been toying with gridfinity in my mind for a few weeks. Haven’t stepped in yet, since I don’t need the distraction (bike shedding). I have a couple drawers in my tool box that would really benefit from some organization
