What did you do to your TJ today?

The Mrs. has a habit of buying large - scratch that; GIANT water cups.
I'm not sure what the fascination with them is, but if the cup won't hold about a gallon, then she's not going to even look at it.

That being said, these water troughs take up both cup holders due to their increased diameter and giant handles.

Yesterday, I helped her figure out how to let me also bring a beverage... ;)

This setup keeps the cup holders clear for my drink and a phone, etc.

More welding practice before I tackle the track bar bracket and spring perches on the TJ.

Per advice I received here, and from other sources, here was today's points of emphasis.

1. Working on letting the puddle form, not being in a rush to take off down the line.

2. Working on pulling the puddle, and not outrunning it.

Made a massive difference.

Some still ugly, some surprisingly decent looking. Work in progress, this was practice #3.

Oh, and probably going tomorrow to look at an '05 Rubicon to work on. Based upon the fender rust, I'm not expecting much from the frame. Doesn't hurt to look, the price is right.

Excellent progress. You're still getting a lot of porosity, most likely from the surface conditions of the base metal. Try welding on bright shiny metal.

I finally dug myself out of one rabbit hole. Finished the rebuild of the front suspension and steering system. Mostly stock replacements, but I added a ZJ HD steering upgrade and Rancho 5000 shocks. Also threw on 3/4" coil spacers for cosmetics. I do have to replace the bump stop receivers and cups at a later date; they're rotted, not salvageable. The only things not replaced were the steering wheel and shaft, and the sway bar and bushings.

Looks good. Consider removing the shock boots. Id hate to have MA road grime / salt stuck under there.

Wasn't there some reason you are supposed to have the supports for the engine skid unsymmetrical

I’m not sure what you’re asking, exactly. The two small brackets, bolted to the frame, which hold the struts face opposite directions, if that’s what you mean.
