I have 2 D rings for the front of a warn bumper and need the mounts. Might add another set to the rear or just go with a trailer hitch shackle.
Your opinions please.

Thanks.

So I think the question your asking is if to weld or bolt on the d ring mounts onto your warn bumper and the answer is weld.
Surface welding them onto the surface of the bumper is verboten. Through welded shackle tabs are a good way to go, that means the shackle tab passes through the bumper and is welded onto both the front and rear sides of the bumper.

^^^ what Jerry said. You do NOT want that mount coming off. Welded front and back is the only way to go.

Most bumpers are made from low carbon steel so they shouldn't get brittle. But as per Jerry, through weld. If you have ones that have a flat base for the bolts then cut a slit through the bumper face, insert the D ring from the back, and then weld both sides.

Thanks Mr. B for the link. I have some good Warn stuff on there now. I will investigate the pass thru idea and have them welded.
