Warn 10k winch dashboard switch

1600 watt amps in vehicles put 1600 watts out .0001% of the time. In reality they put out a very small percentage of that. Inverters, inefficient as they are, seldom need to provide much power either.

You'd be better off and it would cost less just to get a small Lithium Ion jump start battery pack.

Again i know its not recommended, i was just asking someone with the set up how much they use it

Dual batteries worth it or no? Set up looks nice man!!

I don't like to be stuck anywhere. I live in Arizona where it is extra hard on batteries. I cannot make up your mind for you, but I really like my set up. I wouldn't go as far as not recommended though. I don't see the problem of having two batteries, but there is definitely a couple caveats. There isn't much space for dual batteries. So odyssey makes a kit, but the cca is so low that your one battery probably has the same kick as their 2 battery setup that is really expensive. I didn't go for that package.

I went for the package that mounts to optima's sideways. I went with the Yellow tops. The caveat to that is after Interstate sold off optima they suck badly, but that said I have had a ton of problems with the Red tops and blue tops but I have had good luck with the Yellow tops of which that is what I have in there now. It has been a couple years and they are still going strong.

My two batteries are set up so I can isolate the aux battery, or I can charge or discharge both at the same time or even jump start the main battery off of the auxiliary battery. The set up was rather expensive, but I don't regret it. The two batteries are stacked on top of each other so they don't really take anymore room that you would be using anyway.

Here is a how to thread I wrote when I set mine up:

BTW I use my winch and I have never killed it completely with my winch, but I also tow a tent trailer with a fridge that I camp with overnight. I have installed power plugs in the bed of the Jeep for the cooler in case I don't take my trailer. My Yellow top ran my cooler all night with no issues then I charged it back up with a gen the next day. It is kind of nice not worrying about killing the aux battery, and still being able to start the jeep the next day.

It is a personal preference. When I set out to do it, I couldn't find any good info on it, so I know it isn't the most popular thing, and maybe it is not necessary, but I will tell you that my Chevy 3/4 with a camper also has dual batteries in it also. My main battery in my Chev is a pumped up Odysseey and my aux is a Yellow top Optima that I have had now for about 4 years. They are still going sttrong too. Before I had my TJ I had a YJ and I ran dual batteries in it also. The YJ has a ton more room for dual batteries though.

To me it is expensive, but worth it.

The Yellow and Blue Top batteries are 100% identical inside, the only difference is their connector type and the case color.

That said, I never had anything but piss-poor luck with my three (!) Optima batteries.... two Yellow Tops and one Blue Top. All died premature deaths. I'll never run another Optima. My replacement battery was made by Odyssey and it lasted 10 years. My current battery is a Northstar which is a clone of the Odyssey.

Interesting. It is probably dumb luck but all of the Yellow tops I have bought are still going good with the latest being over 4 years old, but my blue top I bought for my tent trailer didn't even get 6 months out of it. Same for my red top I bought for my RAM. It didn't even last 6 months.

I must have got lucky on some.
In my Chev my main battery is an Odyssey 1500, and my aux is an old yellow top still going strong.

Too bad about the Optima's because they are way too expensive for the crap that they are. I don't imagine they can stay in business too much longer at that rate, or they are going to have to significantly lower their prices.

That said, I have been pretty lucky with my yellow tops so far. Maybe if they die, I will see if i can stack Odysseys sideways instead.
