Bond it or Screw it to Dashboard?

Do you have a pic of your overhead radio mount? And what radio?

If I had it to do again, I'd make my own mount out of unistrut. Cable routing would be a LOT easier and neater.

I had my radio on an overhead mount similar to that. After a few years, the mike failed due to the wire insulation inside the cable degrading and shorting out. New mike fixed that.
Then a few years later, the radio speaker failed. Then shortly after that the radio display failed.
Multiple nylon grab straps failed, too - the loops around the roll bars turned to dust.

All the above failures due to the brutal summer sun baking stuff that was a few inches from the hard top. Next time, the radio equipment will get mounted down low, away from the hard top frying pan.

That's a good point, I had the same thing happen to the GMRS mic cord - I force fit a replacement. My hard top's top is painted white - which REALLY helps - but it may or may not be enough. Thanx for the heads up. I'm having a bitch of a time keeping the CB radio's (in the dash, not overhead) PA speaker working. Last time, an underhood connector failed, this time?
