UAW ready to strike

@Westtown Willy

Only one president shut down and it was 45.

maybe you've forgotten there was a not fully comprehended pandemic at the time? Perhaps you also forgot that soon to be 46 along with his clown brigade on the left screamed from every mountain top at Trump to "do your job" - shut everything down, mandate this, mandate that... as he fought defiantly to keep the economy moving.

The early days of 2020 were at best a guessing game not just by 45 but by the entire world in response to an unknown threat. By contrast what's facing Biden now is how to best manipulate a very known situation for his political gain, & if the party decides to stick with him it's entirely possible he'll try to assure limited or no debates along with mail in voting and another campaign conducted from his basement so he can avoid being humiliated by campaign events where 9 people show up while Trump sells out stadiums 7 nights a week. The formula worked last time.

Will it be another round of covid bullshit, the climate crisis, WWIII, perhaps an alien invasion, I don't know, but none of them would surprise me.

What .... people want a F -250 more than a Fiesta ??? but , but , don't they know what's best for them ? And the Fiesta is so much cheaper !!!!
It appears to be about control , let them legislate what you should be driving.

100% agree, the entire push has been about control since the government became involved. If the auto industry were market driven we wouldn't be having this conversation, it would still be doing what it's been doing for the past century & we'd all still be happily driving our ICE vehicles, & EV's would still be the novelty they were when Tesla got in the game. I think that company would still be successful, & maybe one day the market would drive us to full adoption of EVs when we have no alternative due to a lack of oil, but that day is being artificially foisted on us all over the world.

Whitmer, Bernie Sanders, Rep. Debbie Dingell speak in support of striking UAW at downtown Detroit rally

DETROIT, MI – UAW leadership hosted Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vermont, on Friday for a rally and march in Downtown Detroit.

About 300 strikers and union members marching in solidarity gathered on the first day of their strike against Big Three automakers outside the UAW-Ford Joint Trusts Center on Jefferson Avenue. Members listened to rallying cries from UAW President Shawn Fain, Whitmer and Sanders as well as Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Ann Arbor, and their own union representatives.

There's a reason I've worked for employee owned LLCs over my career. It's the best model for corporations and should be the standard.

Ditch the stock market corporate model. Private equity with employee buy in.

But if you told the UAW the employees could do profit sharing and loss sharing, they would turn it down. They only want the upside. Not base salaries and year end bonuses based on profits.

I don't know anything about the Tesla Model 2, as this is the first I've heard of it. $25K is an attractive price point, but unless they dump the gimmicks and bullshit Tech, I'm certainly not interested. They also need to improve their overall reliability from what I'm hearing. Never mind the ever present battery problem with ANY electric vehicle.

Who wants a Tesla anyways? So the government can randomly shut off your car whenever they see fit? Also, have fun with the repair times. All I hear are horror stories.

It’s Kamala 100% if it isn’t Biden. The Democrats can’t replace an old white you with another old white guy. Not when there is a woman of color waiting for her turn.

The Dems have really snot themselves in the foot with Kamala. On one hand she’s probably the worst politician (and possibly one of the dumbest people ever) but on the other hand she’s a female of color. If they push her aside for some other white guy that would be “systemic racism”.

Naïve Chris, since when is any of this about what we want? It’s all about angling us into a predestined corner featuring all windmills/EVs, no guns, digital currency, world bank/government, borderless, equity of outcome, gender free you’ll own nothing and like it leftist wet dream

Oh, but haven't you heard, that's just a "conspiracy"

I say that as many on this forum are lurking in the shadows thinking that to themselves. They just haven't come out and said it yet ;)

My company works for any company that needs our services. Sometimes we work in union businesses.

We had a project and we used the company’s maintenance team to do our install which we figured would take a day or two. We were lucky to get 4 hours work out of these guys in an 8 hour day between all the breaks and lunch plus their work was slow walked. After 3 days of this. We had to talk to management and brought in subs who knocked out the project in under a day.

Other Union shop I’ve been in, this is what I have witnessed. If their shift ends at 3 you can watch them start cleaning up at 1:30 then about 2:30 it’s sit around and bs time.

We have pretty good maintenance in my plant. All the guys that I have contact with show up with out delay and don't sandbag. There were some bad apples, but they have been put out to pasture.

Exactly. Their quality seems to be rather poor at best. My old MBZ only needs electricity to start, once its running, the Gov't can't shut it down - not even an EMP would do that!

These aren’t car plants that I describe. But one facility was in Louisville.

The other made airplane parts.

My next-door neighbor’s wife manages a body shop. You should hear all the horror stories she has about Teslas.

Your fuel shut valve ( and on ) is only mechanically operated ?

Y’all remember this?

Chrysler ordered to rehire workers caught drinking, smoking pot during lunch

https://www.torquenews.com/106/chry...kers-caught-drinking-smoking-pot-during-lunch

This whole ordeal began in 2010 when reporters from Fox 2 Detroit caught workers from the Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) in Detroit drinking what was clearly alcohol and smoking what looked to be marijuana during their lunch break – only to return back to work after getting drunk and high during lunch. As a result of the Fox 2 Detroit investigation, 2 employees were suspended and another 13 were fired for their gross misconduct in the middle of their shift.

Unbelievably, those 13 employees who were fired for getting drunk and high during lunch filed grievances with the UAW and after legal battle spanning almost two years – an independent arbitrator has ruled that the Chrysler Group must rehire these troublesome workers. These careless workers claimed that they were illegally fired and per the guidelines of the collective bargaining agreement between Chrysler and the UAW, they were permitted to demand an investigation into their firing and an arbitrator who was either greased by the UAW or drunk and high himself ruled that the American automaker did not have proper cause to fire these people. The arbitrator claimed that Chrysler simply did not have sufficient evidence to uphold the firings…even though the company had video showing the workers smokin’ and drinkin’ in a public place during their break.

This is just shilling for votes. Why the government is involved at all is beyond my comprehension. I'd like to annex everything south of I-94 in Michigan to ohio. The WHOLE state is red, except those three or four cities along I-94 and they drive the politics in the state.

The United Auto Workers union’s walkout at three factories comes as American workers are striking at a pace not seen in nearly a quarter-century.

Last month, large stoppages from strikes resulted in 4.1 million missed days of work, according to the Labor Department. That preliminary estimate was the biggest monthly total since August 2000.
