To lock or not to lock

I hear ya, but the disk brakes will retain the axle, which would allow you to get somewhere safely and not have a axle fall out. But yeah the super 35 with disk brakes or c clip eliminator would have the same effect but at that point you're 2000$ in and could've got your hand on a dana 44. Anyways I guess I'm just traumatized by dana 35s after what happened to me :ROFLMAO:

I was lucky and got my hands on a Warn full floater kit when I'd first bought my TJ with a Dana 35 so I never had the broken axle syndrome... But I had buddies who did and I've got 2 who did the 8.8 swap. I had one I was going to swap into my daughters old TJ.. Even have a Barnes truss kit sitting in my garage. Got a 8.8 for $50... Sold the axle after I'd sold her TJ.

If you want to go cheaper but not worry as much about the rear end failing with 33s, then I’d upgrade your rear axles during the re-gear and leave the rear end open.

If you want a more capable set-up in the rear, then I’d pair a selectable locker with a super 35 or a rear 44 if you can find one for sale.

You can install a selectable or lunch box in the front. A locked rear is what pushes you forward when you want to turn so that’s why I would consider a lunch box in the front but not the rear.
