Been attempting to choose replacement seats that will slide and fold forward like my original seats. Not finding anything with the release option at the top of the seat back. Attempting for simple replacement with no need for additional mods and same functionality as originals. Brand new to Forum so feel free to point me in the right direction. 2005 TJ Rubicon Thanks

There's some threads around with some options that work with little modification. One being Tiburon seats.

Thread 'How to install Hyundai Tiburon seats in a Jeep Wrangler TJ' https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-to-install-hyundai-tiburon-seats-in-a-jeep-wrangler-tj.2997/

Focus your search on two door cars as they're the only ones that need to tumble forward. Most won't have a high release but they'll have the low release that would be easy to access in a TJ. The issues will be width and height of course. Also, high bolsters from "sporty" cars can be inconvenient when getting into a lifted vehicle (not sure about yours).

Other issues can be matching your rear seat, if you have one. You may need/want a cover to try and match the front. In my case, I have gray interior and seats and don't want to switch to black. Finding gray options are more limited. Plus, the TJ seats just look right. I personally love the pattern of my early TJ seats with it's 90's vibe. You may be better off scouring marketplace, Craigslist, eBay, or junkyards for a replacement set that's in better shape.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of any fab work to make custom bracketry if you can't do that yourself if it requires anything besides flat or angle bar.

What shape are your stock seats in? I'm currently working on switching from the Tiburon seats back to stock. The Tiburon seats are comfortable and worked well but they are not equal to the stock seats. They don't fit perfectly and they have limited folding ability.

Bestop has bolt in replacements and I think they still tumble. Some other brands out there as well. A little searching will find you a bolt in solution.

Or have your seats re-done by a good upholstery shop. Or buy my PRP seats in the classifieds. ;)

With the TJs its gotta lurch forward a good bit to get into the back. Not many options will allow for that

I think its wiser to find a good set sitting in a boneyard jeep, or pay an upholstery shop to reupholster them.

I know reupholstering professionally can be probibitively expensive for a younger buyer. Thats why I think your 2nd best option is boneyards. I picked up a delring kit for the sliders for like $10 off Aliexpress

Ive put modern Camaro seats into a classic 2nd gen Camaro and they worked out way better.

The fold and tumble lever is positioned under the seat in front, you can just push it down to fold and tumble the seat forward. The seat base stays for aftermarket seats so you don't lose that ability just because you install new seats. I'm running PRP suspension seats and my passenger seat still tumbles forward when I push that lever down under the seat.

And a big welcome to WTF! :)

I put the Best Top seats in my '05 Rubicon and I prefer them to the original ones as they are firmer and just feel better. The passenger side folds forward but I think that is a function of the rails. I have to reach under the seat to release it but jeep is lifted so no trouble.
I thought we were neighbors from your name lol, I live in Clay County FL, I guess they have one in NC too! :)

I've got Corbeau Trailcats. Love them but they were't cheap. All these in link recline. If I remember correctly, Moab's, Trailcats and A4's all fit in TJ's. Easy install and I'm unqualified for most jobs

It might be best to just reupholster the originals. That way you get all the original attributes and new seats.
