TJ Seats

Swap in some JK seats. Over the summer I swapped in some 2017 JK seats front and rear in my LJ. Fronts just need a mounting plate to adapt to the tj fold and tumble uses the factory seat lever to do it.
Rear was a bit more work to get full width back there, but is much safer for my girls with head rests.

Sorry for the delay. Finally got some time. The front seats go in with just an adapter plate I made out of a 16x18 piece of steel. You do have to cannibalize the fold and tilt so there is no going back when you start but they function just like from the factory using the factory lever on the side of the seat to tumble them. If you wanted to eliminate the fold and tilt and use a fixed base it would take you less than an hour to have them in your jeep.

Like I mentioned the rear seat was a bit more involved but the seat is unmodified and full width from a 2017 jk. All it takes in a 1" body lift which I had anyway for a tummy tuck, and to cut out about 1.5" of wheel well and weld in a filler piece. You can just barely make out the widening nect to the floor brackets. Final piece was taking the stock seat bracken and move the rear pin back 3/8" They also fully fold and tumble as shown with factory lever.

Over all I love the front seats and I feel my girls are much safer in the back seat with a full height seat and head rest. Definitely worth it to me.

Do the JK front seats sit higher than stock? I know that most of the aftermarket seats sit higher and that can be a problem.

I made my adapter brackets as flot and short as possible. IF they raised it at all it is no more that 1/4" I am 6'5" and have no problems at all. Sitting up straight my head is short of the roll bar by about an inch.

Thats a good thing to know
I just bought some BMW E90 seats but I kinda hate leather , so Im gonna look for JK fabric seats Instead and resell these BMWs

MMcClure thanks for the reply. My seats are in good shape but the backs are not comfortable for really long drives i.e. 5-7 hours. I had mastercrafts in my YJ and loved them but the bolsters were high, LJ is higher and the wife is short. So high bolsters and sitting higher is not practical. I currently have 1" spacers under the current seat configuration so I could remove the spacer and if the seat is a little higher that would be OK.

Do you have a pic of the steering wheel please?

Yes sir. Here you go. The detail and stitching is exactly like the original leather, just a different color. I like to keep it covered now to protect it. And thank you for your politeness. It is an art that seems lost in the U.S.

Nice I have a question, I have full black interior and planning on buying those seats. To have something inside the car that will match the seats I am planning on doing some upholstery on the steering wheel. What stop you from doing the middle too? Do you think full black interior will look good with the seats?thanks

Those seats in the picture look really nice. Why would you change them? My seats were reupholstered using the original hardware. So, you would need the original seat hardware, and I don't think in the picture shown you are using the original seat hardware. My original steering wheel was black leather wrapped, and I just changed the color. I really wouldn't mess with the center area or let anyone else mess with it, as it contains the airbag and the horn, and that could be dangerous. I guess it could be wrapped, but then you would lose the center logo, and trying to glue over the horn could be messy and mess up the horn functionality. Like I said, I wouldn't mess with it. I don't think it would look nice either. Good luck.

If your airbag is active, that cover has break lines molded into it on the back side to allow it to properly open and deploy the airbag correctly. You would have to glue any material to the center section/airbag and that would have some impact on the operation. Maybe a little, maybe a lot. It would depend on what became the weak point. But at the very least, it may slow it down enough for you to smash into the steering wheel before it fully deployed.

Check out something like stitchingcover.com for a custom wrap. You might be able to find colors that tie it together in a way that you like. I have a new sitting at home but haven't installed it yet.

And I would say that the full black would look fine. There are black accents on the seats so it wouldn't be completely out of place.

My PRP's still look and operate like new, I love these seats and worth every penny imo.
And...my granddaughter approves of them too!

This is a good point. Like I said too, I wouldn't put anything over the airbag either, "that would have some impact on the operation".

Here are some pictures of my interior and exterior at night. I can set 255 different colors in the exterior or interior in about two seconds with my cell phone. Pure white is an option. It stays that color until I change it. A lot of these pictures are old. I've upgraded other things like changing my seat belts to white and coating them for easy cleaning. All seat belts and all shoulder straps were changed for different options. I also changed my steering wheel cover to white.
