I wanted to post a review for those of you in OR and around the Portland area.

To make a long story short, last Friday my wife was driving my truck and through no fault of her, burned up the tranny. I was 250 miles away and she was about 100 miles from home. I called the chevy dealership in Wilsonville multiple times, and was unable to get in touch with someone from the service department. Even after talking with someone at the main desk, they did not seem to care about my situation, or express interest in helping. I turned to AAMCO in Tigard, the manager, Mark, was very helpful in getting a tow lined up, and getting my truck in the shop.

I informed Mark that I had a family emergency, and would have to leave my truck at the shop, and told him I would be traveling through the following Wednesday, Mark said he would do everything possible to have my truck done by then. I told Mark if it wasn't done by then it was ok, but I wouldn't be able to get it until at least a week after that Wednesday and he was completely understanding.

Mark, and the technicians from AAMCO were able to remove, rebuild, and reinstall the tranny in my silverado in less then 3 work days. They were absolutely a pleasure to work with, and made an extremely stressful situation for me, an easy one to handle.

That AAMCO is a full auto repair shop, if any of you that don't do maintenance on your own vehicles and are looking for a shop, I would highly recommend going to Mark and the guys at AAMCO in Tigard OR, these guys are amazing when it comes to customer service, which goes a long way with me.

This is very good to know.
It's great to hear about good companies and not just the screw ups.

x2 We hear a lot about the screw ups, but the good places are actually as useful to hear about. Thanks for the review!

Thanks a million for posting this @Jeep_guy3!

I say that because it is so rare to ever see people leave a good review of a place online. Most internet forums are polluted with nothing but bad experiences, not only about businesses, but vehicles as well. Because of this, anyone who is looking into a business (or vehicle) for the first time might get cold feet because they read all these negative things.

It's nice to hear about the companies who actually do something well. I'm local to Tigard as well, so next time I need transmission work I WILL keep these guys at the top of my list.

And damn... 3 days to remove, rebuild and re-instal the transmission in your Silverado... That's amazing!

I agree, it's hard to find reviews that actually give positive insight. I don't like having to muddle through negative reviews that are negative simply for the fact that the writer didn't get their hand held or coddled like a baby.

I usually don't leave reviews unless it is an extremely negative (even then I like to give them a chance to correct it), or extremely positive experience. I am a strong believer that customer service is a rapidly dissolving in our country, so it was nice to find someone who took the extra mile for a customer. I'm sure it is an AAMCO thing, but the tranny even came with a 10 year unlimited mile warranty.

I couldn't agree more. One of the things I've learned from all my time on the Internet is that people rarely ever post positive experiences or reviews. It's most just people complaining about bad experiences they've had.

Much like yourself, when I have a good experience with a place I really like to make it known via Yelp, forums, etc. I seldom leave a negative review unless it was just the most horrible experience ever.

I learned this with numerous cars and motorcycles too. I would go on forums and see nothing but people complaining about that particular vehicle. It would make me think twice about having purchased it, until I realized that all the positive experiences people had with that particular car (or motorcycle) were never posted online (because most people don't share positive reviews).
