I did throttle body Maintenace on my 04 TJ this morning. Took about an hour. Was pretty dirty. Idles smoother now. Fixing to go on a short trip across town to a car show so I will see how it accelerates.

I have cleaned a lot of throttle bodies. Never noticed it run better at highway speeds but usually smoother at idle. I clean mine yearly. Also pour some Gumout Regaine down the throttle body while running to clean the intake valves. Seems to be doing the trick for me.

cleaned the throttle body butterfly area IAC area and sensor. Nothing to clean much on the TPS. just MAP and IAC. IAC was pretty dirty.
Good Info. I have had this TJ about a month. Learning as I go. Been 4 wheeling a long time since 78. Just my 1st TJ. I have done a lot of research in the last month just to understand different issues and how to repair. Idle is great now. No change on highway. Engine still runs smooth at highway speeds.
