Found this 01 Sport. It looks super clean, but I haven’t seen in person. Guy says it has light surface rust on frame. States he had owned it for some time and it’s always been garage kept (I know, little ol lady drives to church on Sundays). Asking $13k with 114k miles on it. Thoughts?

Yeah i'd buy it for $13k all day long. No rust on the top of the front fenders, no visible rust or bubbling of the paint as far as we can see in these 10ft shots. I'd like to see the engine bay and underbelly. Looks promising.

Looks super clean. Are you able to see it in person soon or will he send frame pics? I can't remember, are you specifically looking for a manual or you don't have a preference?

I’m about 3 hours from it. Yes, I am looking for a manual. I’ve looked at a lot online, and this one seems cleaner than most.

Yep, I have the same one….2001 silverstone. Looks like a deal for 13 but would need to see the frame.

I’ll try to get some frame pics. I may just head there in the morning. 3 hours away isn’t horrible. Thanks everyone for the input. I wasn’t sure since it was just a Sport model, it may not be worth it.

Does the head go bad that quick with a little over 100k miles? Also, what is DW? I’m a Jeep noob.

If it's one with the defective casting, it's a possibility. You can check to see if it's been fixed already by opening up the oil cap and looking down at the top of the head with a flashlight. The "fixed" version has TUPY cast in to it. If it were me though (as somebody not afraid to do engine work) it would not be a big factor for me unlike rust in the frame. Or really ugly wheels.

I'm just giving you a little crap. They aren't the worst out there, but as long as you like them, that's all that matters. At least you chose the correct transmission 😉

Lol. Yep, I’m a manual shift guy. A dying breed of people that drive one. Plus, I’m upgrading from a geo tracker to a Jeep.
