Hopefully this story helps someone else. I started having some electrical problems with my 2005 Sport with a 6 speed. I started getting an intermittent no crank situation. Jumping the starter would crank it, but no spark. I also noticed that my OPDA was a little loose, and it caused a crank/cam disagree code. I tightened that. No more codes that way. I still had occasional no crank/no start problems with no codes. I went the cheapest route I could think of. I replaced the cheapie crank position sensor that I put in last year when I replaced a disintegrated throw out bearing. I did the clutch at the same time, of course. I broke the crank sensor putting the transmission back up into place. Remove that like the instructions say. Oops.

Anyway, after replacing that sensor, everything was fine for about a week, then this:

P0032 heater control circuit both banks and circuits.
P0031
P0038
P0037
P0051
P0052
P0057
P0058

All of those came on at the same time and the Jeep died. I cleared the codes, and drove another 1/4 mile and it happened again. Haven’t seen those codes since.

Since then, I have been frequently losing all my gauges, gas light on, MIL on, and code U0155. Sometimes it is self healing and the MIL even goes out. It usually shuts down a little while later. It usually restarts. If not, disconnecting the battery terminal and reconnecting will allow it to start. Last time I did this, (almost all of this was on a camping overnight with my daughter) I left the battery disconnected for about five minutes while I helped my daughter with something else. 42 minutes of good living, according to the clock on the radio.

The one other anomalous code that I got was P0508, Idle air control system circuit low.

I have also gotten an occasional P0300 Random/multiple cylinder misfire

Coincidentally, these would most often occur going downhill at idle/engine braking.

Yesterday I put my new PCM in from Wranglerfix. 5 minute procedure. Fired up and has been working fine for two days now. I ordered that PCM on Tuesday, late afternoon. It arrived on Thursday. I was out of town, so I didn’t get it in til yesterday. I have a few hours of driving on it, and it is a different experience now.

I am fairly confident that was the answer.

I bought this Jeep a year ago. I should have the rest of the “isms” worked out of it soon.

Man it sure was in a pretty spot -

Maybe we should start a “stranded ride of the month” contest. That could get interesting.

On your multiple misfire code. Check and make sure your Crankshaft position sensor is not sitting on top of the manifold. I had the same intermittent issue and the little plastic spike had fallen off and it was sitting on top of the manifold and it was getting too hot there until i zip tied it up in the original location away from the metal etc.

Thank you. The crankshaft code was legit. As I started troubleshooting before I replaced the PCM, I found that the OPDA was loose, causing a cam/crank disagree code. The 0300 random misfire code hasn’t been a problem since changing the PCM. I did check the security and integrity of the sensor. I don’t think it is an issue. I also never felt any engine behavior that resembled a multiple misfire issue. I am assuming it to be erroneous like the other 10+ codes. I have made a pretty conscious effort to induce all of the codes that I was getting by doing what I was doing when they would tend to pop up. All good so far. 🤞
