Tailgate hinge replacement on 2000 ~ Anyone using the MoRyde hinges with the Bestop Highrock 4x4 HD Tire Carrier?

The hinges on my 2000 actually work fine and the tailgate is properly aligned. The lower hinge creaks relentlessly and it's just annoying. I have the cast aluminum hinges. Easy fix would be a new set of stock hinges or the later model stamped steel (though they don't work on earlier TJs).

Before anyone recommends the MoRyde Exogate.. I don't need it. I use the Bestop Highrock 4x4 HD Tire Carrier and am very happy with it. Just want to change the hinges... remedy the creaking and get rid of the countersunk bolts. Only other person I know running the Bestop Highrock 4x4 HD Tire Carrier is @Mike_H and I believe he has the BMB taillights.. but stock hinges.

I am certain the MoRyde HD hinges clear the BMB billet taillights. But not sure about the tire carrier. Lots of hinge options out there.. Anything worth while will be $100 or more so I would like to go with the MoRyde hinges for a few bucks more, but I doubt they will clear the upper tub-side mount for the carrier.

Anyone using the MoRyde hinges with the Bestop Highrock 4x4 HD Tire Carrier? Will they play nice with each-other?

What alternative hinges are out there with a stock-like profile, that don't suck? I think I may be stymied on this one... stuck with living with the annoying creak, buying another stock hinge or some eBay stamped steel chinesium crap.

You are correct, I’m running that same carrier and factory hinges. My first set wore out and I’ve replaced them with a set of 97 solid cast factory hinges, I believe. They are either that or kentrol, but the guy I got the tailgate and hinges from did a tub swap from a 97, so I believe them to be factory.

look up Kentrol. They make factory replacement hinges, but out of stainless. They are pricey, but I’ve always thought they were good quality.

Those could be good. Thank you. They look like the same profile as stock and don’t have the countersunk screws. A new set of stock hinges are about $200 as are the MoRyde hinges…. So not horribly expensive by comparison.
