I just noticed this crack in my tailgate:

I feel like this may be straightforward but is this from too large of a tire/not enough support for the tire? Most of the cracks I’ve seen from large spare tires were in other areas of the tailgate/the hinges so I just wanted to get a second opinion before I go buying things

I currently have a 33x12.5 spare mounted on a RedRock Heavy Duty tire carrier on stock tailgate and hinges. Tire is in contact with all snubbers.

Looks like I might have to get a rear bumper with a tire carrier. Does anyone have recommendations for a reasonably priced one? I was looking at the Barricade rear bumper with tire carrier which was fairly inexpensive but I’ve heard it rusts really easy. Would appreciate any recommendations!

As far as the aftermarket carrier goes and the rust factor, 99% of the time it's due to lack of corrosion protection from the manufacturer. I recommend if you buy anything like that to have it blasted then epoxy it and re topcoat. Another option is to have it blasted and powder coated by a reputable company you can get personal info from. Sadly when things are mass produced the corrosion protection part of the process is skipped or skimpted out on to cut down costs in manufacturing. It's definitely an additional expense to do what I'm talking about but will probably save you from buying something twice due to it rusting out.
