Stroker Upgrade

Well, if we are making baseball analogies, if the turbo is 3rd base, we all know what the home run is…

😎

(You be quiet, Ryan…🙂)

I’d say a turbo is a solid double that’s available almost every time you step to the plate.

A turbo stroker is like trying to stretch a solid double into a triple while Vladimir Guerrero Sr. launches a piss missile to the bag from shallow right.

I’ll let you guys decide what a can of corn and duck snort are. :sneaky:

If Hemi is a home run

LS is like winning the Superbowl, in a whole different league and pretty much the only thing people really pay attention to.

I'm going to Disney World ;)

I can’t keep up with you guys and your modern baseball terms lol. By Super Bowl, I believe App means Grand Slam.

And he dreams of hitting for the cycle (installing his big boy engine).

At this point he's all talk.... He has pictures but heck they could be someone else's garage.. He's not even wearing big boy pants yet so no way is he ready for a big boy engine...

Hello, us normal folks....... Hi there!!

So, umm, I'm even afraid to ask what we are even talking about that care about this topic? Please don't hate me.........

You guys have the experience; do you hop up the I6 or go V8? I seem to like this stroker option. KISS.... Keep It Simple Stupid...... am I nuts?

What are you trying to ask?

That depends on what you want...

Stroker I-6 can be the KISS method if you don't go overboard.

V-8 is just COOLER...

I've been going back and forth on this, and here's what I've realized... One of the huge reasons I like the 4.0 is how easy it is to work on, and replacing it with an LS negates all of that. If I wanted to contend with a Harry Tuttle level of hoses, ducts, and wires, I'd go change the sparkplugs on my 3.6L JL.

Stroker motor it is, and S&J is only a half day's drive away.

Well you said the EVIL word right there... no LS reference allowed here. If you're going to V-8 swap it then it's either a Magnum for up to 2002 & a Hemi for 2003 to 2006... None of that foolish LS crap is allowed.

My V-8 is as easy to work on as the 4.0... I just don't have as much room..

Had you used an LS from the beginning, you may still be running the first engine. ;)

We've gone over this before... When I did the first V-8 swap a LS was brand new and $$$$$ and there was zero support for it to swap into a TJ. I would have gone Hemi if I was going to spend that kind of money....

And I've read enough stories of failed LS engine to not believe that I might have had issues either way...

The biggest considerations to me about a stroker is that it's much cheaper,no fabrication or modifications necessary,a weekend job and hides from smog nazi's in plain sight.

Yes they make less power than most v8s but smaller motors tend to do that. In my eyes it isn't a good comparison all things considered.
