I just received my TJ back from the shop. I had the TJ regeared from 3.73 to 4.10. I run 33” tires. Does anyone know what tooth count I need for a speedo gear?

Thank you!

I also had leaky axle seals which the shop fixed too. I think I got a fair deal. Cost was $3250 to regear, new axle seals, and to put in the Eaton E-Locker. I live in the Phoenix area and I did call around for pricing before having the work done. I also wanted a shop that specializing in this work.

I have no plans to run larger tires. I drive on the highway and at speeds of 75mph. I thought the 4.10 gearing would be pretty good for that, 2500rpm at 75mph in 5th gear. I could have gone to 4.56 but decided against it. If it turns out I'm not happy with the 4.10 gearing I'll go to 4.56.

So far I'm really liking my decision. The TJ certaining has more pep now.

I mean, honestly, if you just wanted 4.10 axles you could've thrown on 2.5 or manual 2.4 axles.

Everybody touts this, but it's not like there are an abundance of these out on marketplace. I know, because I have a regear to 4.10 in my future (on 3.07 currently) and haven't found anything suitable to swap in.

I see zero of them here where there is no rust and lots of tj's. You need to pony up and buy blown up 4cyl tj's to part out

There's a decent selection in Ohio. 4.10 factory (not so much 4.56) are pretty available when the frames or torque boxes are roached. I could see how the NW and South may be a little less abundant.

Lots of them here locally at salvage yards and some on craigslist and marketplace. I paid $350 for a pair of 4 cylinder Jeep axles when I had the dreaded 3.07s. Night and day difference with the 32rh trans and 33s.
