I misread and though you cut your stock bezel to fit the newer 03+ switch panel. After re-reading, it seems that you installed a newer bezel in addition to the switch panel?

Great find! That top link is another thread I also checked out. I did have to trim the bottom of the double din dash cover to get the new switch plate to fit. My 01 TJ my had three switches and an ash tray. There’s a piece of plastic that separates the switches from the ash tray. I used a Dremel with a plastic cutting wheel to make the opening large enough to fit the new switch plate.

Alternatively, you could just buy the 03-06 Double Din Dash cover and not have to worry about cutting / trimming anything.
