Side-by-sides

Makes me wonde what has become of Uhwarrie

Over the last few years it has become rutted pretty bad and rather rocky (extra) around some of the major obstacles. There is a section of Dutch (I think) that the SXS crowd has dug into the hill that was part of the established trail over the last two years. I don't have a picture right now, but that particular hole now has about a 7' near vertical drop into it. I watched it swallow an XJ back in the spring. I'm not saying things are bad, but some areas are getting rough.

SxS do damage, 4 wheelers do damage our Jeeps do damage, even if you try not to you still will do damage.

The last trip we made to Coalmont OHV i feel like @Hog @Tronner and myself were the only Jeeps, there was a few more I'm sure.

We very rarely saw them. Made for a nice ride, but we have never had any problems with them.

Yes definitely just a camping trip.

The dirt roads are too boring so must take any turn at 80mph

We went through the same thing with snow machines 30 years ago . I like speed as much as anyone , but only where it's safe . Blind corners and idiots going 70 m.p.h. with no clue whats ahead got to make it not so fun . A SXS makes it too easy to go fast and not require much skill to get over most obstacles . They could be a lot of fun without the low IQ crowd . Seems like the ONLY skill needed is " SEND IT " .

Honestly I love going fast, I don't play music tho since I can't concentrate/communicate with it playing.

The generally unsafe speed and excessively loud music are my main complaints about the SXS crowd. I've had a few close calls just because some dumbass is trying to blast 30-40 mph through tight trails. It's not everybody, but it's always in a SXS.

My problem is the lack of care.

When I'm camping I don't wanna hear Mariachi music. Just like they wouldn't want to hear Metallica or Garth Brooks.

Jeeps don't go zippingnpast at 10pm at 80 mph next to your camp site.

Don't forget to throw all the cans onto the trail or you're not doing it right!!

We have some of that, but it doesn't appear to be overwhelming by any means. A little here, a little there. Not great, but not bad either. One of my BILs says if you want to know which beer is on sale at the local grocery stores, just look in the ditches on Saturday morning.

That's the thing around here, we mostly have to ride OHV parks.

So their camping is in the camping area with a 5mph speed.

I'm not saying I like SxS, for what most of them have invested in them, I could send a TJ to Blaine and get it back for the same or less $$

It would be road legal, AC, heat etc. And do everything pretty much they do.

I have a love-hate relationship with it, but about 5 years ago my state made it possible to make SXS road legal under 60 mph. After that, SXS numbers exploded. I see them running the roads daily.

How the SxS crowd sees it:

We saw one XJ, only had to stop for the SXS's once or twice. We did the trails the SXS's wouldn't do too.

I should say, I've actually had, overall, a fairly good experience with side x Sides. Trail etiquette has usually been good at Royal Blue, but there's not much room to go fast and we can hear them coming before we see em

Screw you guys, we love ours!! Poor old jeep hasn’t seen action since we bought it, only about 6 weeks ago. :ROFLMAO:

It is a different crowd, a younger crowd for sure. In this area you rarely hear a 20 something say they want a jeep, it’s always a sxs. I think this is the biggest reason they attract so much hate and I don’t see it changing. It’s always a few bad apples that ruin it for everyone, it’s just that there are so many of them and that makes for a lot of apples….

Sounds a lot like boaters. Back in our RV days, we studiously avoided most places where boaters congregate, and parked on the "other side" of the campground when they were present.

I like to putt along and enjoy the scenery, and I can't abide NOISE. I have yet to encounter any major SXS traffic, and am not looking forward to it by all accounts here.

When I'm camping, I don't want to hear ANY music. I will say that a good amp and Beethoven's 5th can drown out darn near anything though.
