Few things in life am i better at than unintentionally misplacing important items that I'll need at a later date. In fact, I've honed this skill so much that there isn't even any point to looking....

Anyone happen to know the size and type of fastener used to attach the aluminum skid to the 2 crossmembers??

Since you said 2 crossmembers I think you're talking about the fuel tank skid plate. Unfortunately I'm unable remember things like that accurately but I'll guess 1" long 5/16" coarse thread to inspire someone to chime in and either verify that or correct me.

Either way would be better for everyone.

5/16-18 UNC flat head screws with serrated flange nuts. I have the McMaster part number somewhere.

Note these are zinc-plated carbon steel, not the original stainless fasteners. Zinc-plated fasteners won't last quite as long as stainless in salty conditions, but unlike stainless, they will not result in accelerated corrosion of the surrounding metal. Personally I recommend zinc-plated in corrosive environments given we are bolting aluminum and steel together. These fasteners are also significantly stronger than stainless. (Absolutely do not mix zinc plated screws with stainless nuts or vice versa. Buy both of the same type.)
