Another help!

As soon as I got my transmission all buttoned up and was ready to start the car, my starter went *click*. I assumed this was because my battery was disconnected for a month, so I charged it. Still, a click. So, I replaced my starter.

Now, it doesn't even click. Just nothing. Help!

I'm willing to rule out the clutch safety switch, but nothing else. Any ideas, did I just get a bad starter, or did my wiring go kaput in the 12 hours I took to get a new starter??

It would be wise to do some tests like checking the cables that can go belly up and look fine. Check battery volts when you turn the key or the lights on and see how much drop you get. Do you get lights if the switch is turned on of just a dim twinkle? Next thought would be, considering todays junky parts, is the starter is defective. Yank it and have the store test it along with load testing your battery if you can.

If you had the transmission out, is it possible you have something messed up and have the engine locked up? I’d make sure the engine spins freely just to rule that out. Then, pull the starter and test it off the vehicle. What brand did you replace it with? Rebuilt or new? Yes it’s possible to have a bad rebuilt starter right from the store.
