Rear wiper motor question

I have a 2005 wrangler sport. It has switches for rear window defrost and wiper/wash.

I believe the hard top is from an earlier version, because of the wiring harness attached to it. Different plug than the internet shows for a 2005.

Previous owner tried to join the 2 electrically. I need to uncobble his mess, and rewire it correctly I hope.

What is the difference between the rear wiper motors for the 2002 and prior and the 2003 and later hardtops? Rock auto has a listing for the 2005 flavour, but nothing for the 2002 model.

And, what setting does the rear wiper run in when the switch is turned on? Does the wiper run constantly or is it intermittent? I have constant power on one wire going to the wiper, but nothing on the other two. But I’m not convinced it’s wiring correctly.

Thanks

Which of the 3 wires on the motor is the main power wire? How is this grounded normally? Thru the mounting points?

Thanks again

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but you posted the electrical connector pinouts for the hardtops in your first post, both showing connection, wire gauge and color/stripe for every wire. I feel like you've already answered your question, or at least the first part.

Also, full wiring diagrams for all TJ years are available for download in the resource section of the site...

Yeah I’ve referenced those diagrams.

Haven’t had a bunch of time to mess with this yet, holidays, 2 major snowstorms and another on the way, back to my remote work site for 2 weeks Monday…….

Only have constant power to the rear wiper and nothing on the other two. Gotta figure out the previous owners mess and go from there.
