Hey guys so here's my dilemma. My rear brakes stick. everything was just changed out it's a Sierra so it has disc brakes in the rear. I changed the parking brakes the calipers rotors pads and all 3 hoses. The problem is after driving for about 15 minutes the brakes stick after coming to a stop and as I pull away they make a popping sound like their trying to release. they did this before I changed everything out as well. It seems like I am getting slight back pressure in the system. I have read other forums but no one gives a definitive answer on what fixed their problem weather it be the master cylinder the booster or the splitter that the lines go into after the master cylinder. They appear to free up after I start to accelerate I dont feel any drag on the jeep and they do not get hot enough to smoke or even smell of burning brakes. any help of how to diagnose exactly which part it is would be helpful as I dont want to have to switch everything. My thought right now is that it is most likely the master cylinder. Thanks for the help in advance.

Crap in the fluid can cause the caliper pistons to want to jam up. Did you flush the brake fluid out completely when replacing parts?
Be certain that all parts are installed properly with grease on the pins to allow the calipers to adjust.
Try going without using your parking break for a week. That should let you know which system is the problem. Ensure the cables aren't too tight causing drag even when disengauged.

Thanks Goatman. I flushed and replaced all the fluid. The parking brake is adjusted properly. and I greased the caliper bolts when I replaced them. I am 99% certain it is back pressure in the system though.

Put the rear axle on jackstands. Duplicate the driving by letting it idle in gear to turn the rear tires. See if you can get it hot. Then try to replicate the popping. I suspect that the pop is either loose control arm bolts or the brake backing plates are loose on the bolts that hold them to the housing end.

It is very possible that you have a booster that is self applying ever so slightly but that will eventually cause an overheat condition front and rear. The combo valve may have an issue, but that will present as the brake light on the dash being illuminated.

It would be odd for pressure in the system to be present when it isn't supposed to be and NOT wind up with overheated or smoking brakes.

The "splitter" is the combo valve. How did you bleed after the replacement of the parts?
