I use 2.0 on the trail 99% of the time. I only pull the planetary lever on the fo-speed (very easy, as would be the RC shifter I believe) when I get into crazy technical stuff. You know, like when I’m trying to keep up with @gasiorv .

Not really. The final ratio winds up being a very useful 5.44 -1. The 10.88-1 is twice as deep and twice as bad at breaking things very easily. Even the 7.4 -1 you get with the 231 is a great way to break stuff very easily. I've warned several not to use it in JV without big axles, they regret not paying attention to that bit of advice. The Atlas 2.0-1 is the superior choice to mate up to the Rubicrawler. Or any case that gets you close to the 2-1 ratio.

With a 4:1 tcase, other than for showing off that your vehicle can crawl slower than you walk, there is no good use for the Rubicrawler imo.

I saw a RC going on your rig at Blaine's...isn't it a Rubicon?

It's great for showing a friend how the gearing can slide the locked front tires forward in 2Low/Low.

I installed my RC hoping to run trails faster in 2.72:1 because 4:1 is my crawl gear and my 42RLE gets hot trailing in 4Hi. I have zero use for 10.88:1, but I didn't buy it for that. The 2.72:1 option keeps my trans temps down around 180* in the moderate trails, and that makes me very happy.

Others might be good trailing in 4Hi with a Setrab cooler in the grill hooked up to their 42RLE. I repurposed my Setrab, so I can't speak to how well it cools the 42RLE out trailing in the extreme desert heat.

I'll go to an Atlas to gain 2:1 and move Low/Low from 10.88:1 to 5.44:1 if/when my 241OR ever explodes. I'd need Blaine's help on that though because I don't have the skill set to do the cross-member and under armor.
