ABSOLUTELY NO PLASTIC !!!! Use simpson pellet pro double wall pellet stove rated pipe !!!
Got it! I’ve got a place around here that does nothing but pellet stoves so I’ll stop by there and pick up the parts I need.

That makes perfect sense. I’ll remember this when I’m putting it together.
Do they recommend using PVC or metal for the exterior piping? Could have sworn I heard someone tell me to use PVC because it was more efficient.

Don't burn your house
Also , please consider installing the cold air intake to the stove from outside. This makes it a direct vent appliance and reduces cold air infiltration into your house. Hey Chris , how many times have your AZ kids played in the snow ?![]()
Growing up we had a really nice wood stove in our basement. It was large enough you could put a 10" log in it and heat the house easily. Basement was drive in so we could park a wagon of wood next to the stove too.
Eventually we had a couple of close calls on the chimney, one that we even called the fire department. Dad had the fire out before they arrived.
After I moved out they removed it and installed an outdoor wood furnace which worked just as well but kept the risk and the wood outside. It also had a coil system that supplemented the water heater in addition to simply heating the house.
If it were me I'd look at an external furnace.

holy **** man, we're still clinging onto the 70s here for a bit more. You'll love the stove, I can't estimate the number of tons I've run through mine when the family was still all here. These days it's more for spot heating, it's the only heat source in my family room but I don't spend too much time down there anymore since it's just me. I'll crank it up for guests, parties & whatnot, but otherwise it sits idle. My home gym is down there but I thug it out in the cold when working out, that's enough to keep me warm...
Sounds like dad wasn't big on cleaning the chimney at least once a year
He was pretty good at it. If you weren't careful you could get it very hot.
I’ve got a propane stove down in my basement where the home gym is. Not sure I’ll need it though. Like you said, I’ll just tough it out.
I'm reversed, pellet on the lower floor & a propane plaque heater in my living room/kitchen floor, that thing is a monster, kicks out more heat than the pellet, it's the perfect supplement to the oil furnace which I'm able to keep pretty low most of the time, the propane blasts out the living room & all ends up upstairs so when it's time to crash it's really comfortable up there, if not too hot.
On the workout routine, I always start with a long walk before the gym so I come in really warmed up then stay that way throughout, it's a good combination. My family room will generally dip to high 40's low 50s in the dead of winter with no heat which has always been a good temp to work out in provided you keep it moving. The cold tends to be a good motivator not to allow too much downtime between sets to creep in...
There’s something about having that radiant heat in the room versus just having it come out the HVAC vents.
You can set the inner scale on the temp. control to 5 and turn the blower off . This will act a lot more like a wood stove radiant heat feel.
Only Harman stoves feel like this and have a flame that looks real . Most top drop feed pellet stove look like a cross between a jet engine and a popcorn popper.
