So I have the dreaded 344. After some messing around, I’ve found I can repeat every time if I rev the engine to 3500 rpm at idle. I’ve tested wiring integrity to hell and back. And being that it’s repeatable it all but rules that out.

My learned difference is .9 degrees. I can see my cam/crank difference grow slightly from 1 degree at idle to 2 degrees when it fails. I’m pretty sure this is in spec, and the P0016 is what would trip if this were an issue. I’m never getting that.

I pulled the OPDA cap and I have some (I feel like a lot) play back and forth.

Any words of wisdom will be appreciated. I’m going to throw a sensor at it but have a feeling that won’t fix my issue.

For some reason it won’t let me post videos of the slop.

You have to post video to youtube and put a link here.

That is the OEM POS OPDA.

You need to throw an OPDA at it.

With that code, your sensor is most likely bad, but the OPDA is know to bind and seize.

theres going to be some amount of backlash as the opda meshes with the cam gear. I agree that feels like a lot of slop.

P0344 is fixed. Replaced OPDA from Summit. The old OPDA had a ton of radial play in the tone wheel.

Here’s a video of the wobble. You can hear the tone wheel making contact with the housing. Good call @JKP
