Port-a-potty company files for bankruptcy to wipe away $2.4 billion in debt

Dec 29 (Reuters) - United Site Services, which owns 350,000 portable restrooms, filed for bankruptcy in New Jersey on Monday with a plan to eliminate $2.4 billion in debt and hand control to the company's lenders.

USS, which is owned by private equity firm Platinum Equity Partners, said that a majority of the company's lenders have agreed to support the restructuring plan. Despite the high level of support, one large holdout creditor opposes the plan and could pursue a path of "delay and litigation," according to USS' court filings.

USS said it is the largest provider of portable sanitation systems in the U.S., with customers including the Super Bowl, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, music festivals and residential construction projects.

The restructuring plan means they'll emerge from bankruptcy under the new name of "Shorty's Shitters".

How does a company get $2.5 billion in debt? With 350000 units, that's a little over $7100 per unit. Locally it's about $100 per month to rent. $7100 would cover a lot of months and nobody noticed?

What, did they miss some dishes?

She took a 10 minute ride for a PR stunt.

And after they were called out on it they all became Victims.

"A month later, when a senior staff at Blue [Origin] called me, I had to hang up on him because I could not speak through my tears."

Oh Boo Hoo.

You got a free ride that is estimated to cost a minimum of $200K and somehow you are the victim?

Oh man, I am SOOOO heavily weighed down after hearing of her struggles.

OK, I'm over it.

Edit: After reading the whole article, I am once again inundated by the avalanche of misogyny that she endured.

She said everything she "had worked for - as a scientist, my women's health research, the years I had trained for this moment, the experiments I operated in space, the history that was being made as the first Vietnamese woman astronaut, on the 50th anniversary of the US-Vietnam war, as the child of boat refugees, the promise I kept to my survivor self [...] were buried under an avalanche of misogyny".

OK, I'm over that too.

Screw you lady. You got a DEI spot on a "mission" where every spot was DEI.

I'm sure the dozens of world-changing experiments you apparently performed in your 10 minute mission will alter the course of humanity.

Congrats.

McDonald's customer is crushed to death while trying to pay for drive-thru breakfast in freak accident

A driver was crushed to death in a freak accident at a McDonald's drive-through as he reached for the payment window.

Michael Dickinson, 69, was pinned between his car and the side of the building in Grand Island, Nebraska, about 10.30am on Tuesday. He was rushed to St Francis Hospital but did not survive.

Grand Island Police Division Chief Dean Elliott said Dickinson's death was a freak accident. 'It appears the deceased opened the door to further reach out the window for payment purposes.' he said. 'We're not sure if the vehicle lurched forward or what happened, but he got pinched between the door frame and the drive-through window counter.' Elliot said a McDonald's worker was injured when they bravely ran outside and tried to free Dickinson by climbing into the car through the passenger door. The employee was also taken to hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.

The Grand Island Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting local police with the investigation.

Though the local police department is still investigating the incident, the scene was cleared just two hours later and the drive-thru remained opened that day.
