Our daughter in Red Wing has cloud cover and can see much at all.
The red is very visible with naked eye now. I’m not that far from red wing so they should keep an eye out for clear skies.

"U.S. Mint lost $85,300,000,000 BILLION minting pennies in FY2024 alone."
85.3 BILLION BILLION dollars?!?! Is that, like, 85.3 BAZILLION dollars?

sounds like our national debt will resolve itself in short order.
Not sure if local news is allowed around here but this one was interesting. I live in the smallest town in CT so we don't get much going on. The other day a local pizza shop owner was outed for trying to rehab a raccoon she found outside the restaurant/home. DEP stepped in to remove it per an anonymous tip. Once everyone found out she was trying to help it the residents complained enough that a state rep got involved to force DEP to not euthanize it....

I don't know if it's possible to "un-habituate" a coon. Such a smart critter, once it associates people with food, won't change unless you put it far, far away from people/civilization. That coon will either live the rest of its natural life at that place and they'll use it for fundraising, or it'll get put down if the attention wanes and they can't raise funds.
People who think they're doing animals a favor by "taking them in" don't understand nature...

Child murderer & rapist will be 16th execution this year by Florida
Bryan Jennings raped and killed a 6 year old girl 46 years ago. It took three trials finding him guilty and seven years to get his conviction to withstand appeals, but 39 years after his third and final conviction he is finally going to be executed today, Thursday November 13th 2025.
Six-year-old Becky Kunash was sleeping soundly in bed when her dad checked on her one last time on May 10, 1979.
When he looked in on her at 11 p.m., nothing was amiss. Her night light was on and the window was shut, so he went to bed.
He would be the one to identify her body the next day.
Becky's parents, Robert and Patricia Kunash, didn't realize the girl had been taken until 7 a.m., eight hours after her dad checked on her. When her mom went to wake her up, the girl was gone. A curtain was fluttering from the breeze of the open window, a sight that sent a chill down her father's spine.

Later the Kunashes learned that a predator who had been prowling the family’s neighborhood − located on charming Merritt Island off the east coast of Florida − had been drawn to the glow of Becky’s night light. He crept up, saw the girl lying in bed and decided to take her.
Now 46 agonizing years later, Florida is set to execute Bryan Jennings, a 66-year-old former Marine who admitted to kidnapping and killing the little girl.
