They had those at the park I used to stop at on the way to playing fetch when I lived in Aurora. They did not work whatsoever. Puppy loved stopping, getting let out, chasing them away, and running back to the car however

Sorry they didn't work. I'm 100% behind your pup! Fuck those birds. I barely slow down when the walk the road - I won't run them over but I don't just stop. Slow roll at them.

'You're just a fly shit factory — you have wings -> fly over this road!'

I have no patience for Canadians.

These geese are terrible too...

Well... Sometimes they randomly will stop and stare like a deer. I hear it's like running over a big rock.

An Alabama nurse was struck by a ricochet bullet during a predawn medical flight landing in an Autauga County pasture.

Sheriff Mark Harrell said Haynes Life Flight was dispatched at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday on a medical call in the area of County Road 51.

Autauga County volunteer firefighters had set up a landing zone in an open pasture.

As the medical helicopter arrived, shots were fired at the helicopter, striking the right-side window as it approached the landing zone.

A flight nurse was struck.

“One minor injury to a crew member was sustained during the incident, but we are thankful to be able to say that no life was taken or in immediate danger,” Haynes LifeFlight posted.

“Despite the circumstances, Haynes LifeFlight 1 was able to land the aircraft safely without further incident. The aircraft remains under inspection and repair.”

Deputies were already en route to assist, and the medical helicopter was able to safely land.

The pilot and firefighters on the scene were able to give details of the approximate location of the shooter, Harrell said.

Peter Ellison, 48, was quickly taken into custody, the sheriff said. A gun was also recovered.

The FBI and the FAA responded to the scene and have taken over the investigation.

Ellison was booked into the Autauga County Metro Jail on charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle with bond set at $30,000. Federal charges are pending, Harrell said.

The flight nurse was treated at the scene, and the original call victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A motive has not been disclosed.

$30k - seriously!?!?! This type of attack on first responders deserve remand!

We're a week removed from the anniversary of 9/11 - anyone remember how we felt about first responders in the week after that horrifying attack? Apparently no longer...

That was my thought as well. $30K - needs to be at least 3 million.

- A woman from Downey survived a freak accident on the 57 Freeway after a metal rod impaled her while she was driving.

"Moments earlier, she had heard a loud pop followed by sudden, sharp pain. Preciado didn't realize at first what had happened. A metal rod had pierced the bottom of her Ford Fusion, shot through her driver's seat, and went straight into her left buttock."

"When paramedics arrived, they too struggled to find a problem, until she told them, "Please look behind me. I think I'm stuck to the seat." That's when medics discovered the rod still lodged in her body.

"As a nurse, Preciado knew the paramedics' advice was correct: don't move, don't try to remove the object. But in shock, she did the opposite.

"Now recovering, Preciado is urging drivers to secure their loads before hitting the road. She believes the rod that nearly killed her may have fallen off a truck traveling ahead of her on the freeway."

Ouch! Unsecured loads are a problem. I once had a refrigerator door fall off a flatbed trailer full of junk that was merging right in front of me and I had no choice but to run over it.

I had some dude tailgating me once when we came upon some furniture that had fallen off someone's vehicle.

Oddly, I swerved at the last minute but the tailgater didn't. ;)

One of my worst (and irrational, I know) fears is having a big heavy object fall off a truck and come through the windshield and give me a game over light...

I’ve had a step ladder fall off right in front of me on the interstate. I was in the left hand lane and luckily it slid along and nicely moved over to the left shoulder.

Another fun one was merging with the motorhome (one of those where you’re getting on and the traffic is getting off) and there’s a car door laying there. I swerved right and avoided it. The guy on my left saw me and moved over….maybe by a little force. But nothing got bent.

Reminded me of a time I saw a couch fall off the back of a truck on I35 a cop came flying around us and put his push bar on it, Crown Vic, and shoved the couch right off the road. Great police work done that day.

A few years ago, I was with a group of friends headed south on AZ 89 between Paige and Falstaff through the Navajo res in an area called The Gap. It's a pretty remote, desolate 2 lane highway with homesteads with cattle, sheep, goats, etc. everywhere.

We were behind a pickup pulling a trailer with an empty 250 gallon water tote on it...unsecured, as we'd soon find out. The tote slid off and landed right in the middle of the road ahead of us.

After unpuckering, we helped lift the tote back onto the trailer and had a good chuckle as we drove off...ahead of him. 😲

Reminds me of this storyline from 911.
