New Ford Bronco

Someone please tell me exactly what the point of "keyless start" is? Seems everybody just effuses about it, and a lot of the effetes won't have a vehicle without it! I think its a silly BFD and an answer to a question nobody was asking - yet another expensive, pointless gadget that can break. My parents had a car 60 years ago that didn't take a key to start it either. At least it isn't a hot mess like that horrid touch screen, I'll give it that.

I do think Ford nailed it with the styling - its very faithful to what a Bronco should look like, complete with the Iacocca fender creases! Grill looks nice, proportions are good - I might say that it looks a bit chunky compared to the original - so did the reincarnated FJ that came out a few years back.

Why do companies do that? If you want a manual transmission, you have to get the 2.3 L 4 cylinder. It's not available in the larger 2.8L 6 cylinder.

The engines are turbo. How do those do on the trail. Don't turbos need to wind up a little to get power flowing?

It will be interesting to see the power/torque curves.

Not these days they don't. Turbos are designed to spool up quick. Zero turbo lag. Plus the manual is actually a 7 speed, but the actual first gear is called "Creep."

That is QUITE intriguing. Sounds like a modern day SM-420 perhaps - which if it is, that would be very cool indeed! I'd hope however, for an SM-420 soundtrack to go with it, but probably not. Sigh...

Agreed! Competition is a good thing, and it looks like Ford has listened to the off road community about several important aspects. Pricing doesn't seem too far out of reach either.

I think the engine is the same as my Father in law's new F150. Does it shut off at every stop too? I think the 4 cylinder is out of their SUV lineup.

So those might be proven engines unless they tweaked something.
