Need a new radio to replace the OEM radio. Would like one with a screen but not huge and with good functionality. Any brand or model recommendations please.

Crutchfield.com has you covered. I always go with the proven Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood units. Replace the crappy stock speakers too.

If it works for you, you can look for a "Digital Media Receiver" which will eliminate the on-board CD player and on-board navigation for some savings, don't know the last time I used a disc. If you have a Carplay/Android auto preference you'll want to decide if you want wireless version of it to make sure you select a unit that is capable.
The standard step up will be called a Double Din and will require a new dash panel (<$100), and will let you use the industry standard size (the factory radio is like 1.25 DIN.
I highly recommend springing for the harness adapters to prevent cutting the factory wiring. It allows you to do the radio connections on the bench instead of with your hands inside the dash. Also is significantly better if you ever have to swap again in the future.
There are (relatively) inexpensive aftermarket head units that will exactly replace the factory head unit with a screen, or add an even larger screen in front. The biggest issue with those is that you will be rolling the dice on the software and durability of the unit, as Boogieman mentioned, the tried and true mid-tier name brands are normally going to be the best for reliability.

100% agree with you on the harness adapter, makes it so much easier.

Second this! If you want easy and supported, Crutchfield is the way to go. They typically have an option for a soldered, ready to plug-in, harness. I've installed more than 20 of their car stereos, with never an issue!
I bought a stereo from them and their warranty had expired on it, but not the manufacturers. They replaced it no questions asked.
p.s. I worked there in the early 80s when I was 8.
