Nashville TJ's Build - Continued

Is there a way to run gas with the Karnage?

No. Flux core only. I have seen some home built karnage type welders were they took a titanium flux core welder from harbor freight and took all the stuff out of it and put it in a pelican case with batteries. Haven't seen one in action yet, but I have seen it. You can probably do the same thing with a 110v welder that uses gas.

Just getting caught up and read through all the responses from Jeff, Rick etc... Good stuff 👍.

I'm beginning my prep-work, enhancements, modifications and expenditures for Sand Hollow (Hey, I'm not a last-minute kind-of-guy  ).

First up - many parts of Sand Hollow require a flag. As I understand it, the requirement is that the flag be at least 8 feet above the ground, at least 6" x 12", and be solid colored red or orange.

My rig is wired for a CB - although the CB itself has long since left the chat - and the heavy-duty fire-stick antenna I run is still in place and would be perfect to mount the flag. But, it's too short:

But back in the day when I was actually using the CB, I often ran a longer fire-stick for better range, and it's an easy, screw-in swap. So I dug around my stuff and found it...

..and it's 9 feet off the ground. Perfect. Now I just need a flag. Think I'd get hassled for Yellow?

I don’t think color matters much.

I used to run a forever wave flag on my cb antenna

You could be all the colors

Next - a little home-ec. On my tailgate I have a small pouch which holds my deflators in a convenient place. It is attached to the tailgate by Velcro, and I used adhesive Velcro attached to the pouch. It' been on there many, many years, but the adhesive on the pouch has begun to fail.

So, a simple fix to do it the right way. Out came the big sewin' ma-cheen:

New Velcro, five minutes of work, and all fixed.

Man, I didn't think Sand Hollow was going to be this much work...

You're going to need a really big fly swatter to mount that flag to if the firestick breaks

Quite a while ago, I ordered a bunch of soft shackles from @mrblaine. Shortly after I received them, Blaine reached out and asked me if I was happy with the shackles. "Well, yeah," I immediately responded, "they are well-made and work great. Very happy."

He told me he was not happy with the "hand" on the yellow compared to his other colors, and he was also not happy with how the knot came out due to the rope construction. He then sent me a shackle in green so I could see the difference he was describing.

Subsequently I've used and abused them. They work perfectly. I carry a few in all my vehicles.

Out of the blue about a week ago I get a DM from Blaine saying he had found a new supplier, and was sending me a few replacements to see what I thought.

Even though the first version was absolutely fine, these are even better. And being the simple fool that I am, I really like the brighter yellow.

I post this mainly to reenforce what a lot of us already know: Blaine is good people.

To clarify, the "new" supplier is the same one we've been using for a very long time. We just don't send out many yellow shackles so our previous supply was high and I finally remembered to order some with our new order of gear.
