I did that one time (I had the Jerry can of gas)drove 42 miles after the light came on and chickened out and put the gas in(lol)I would really like to fill it up and see how many miles until it runs out.
Same with mine. When my gas light comes on and I fill up I typically get around 14gallons in... So still 5 left

And running at 85mph! I don’t think I’ve ever driven my Jeep that fast! Push a sheet of plywood at 85 mph and you’d run out of gas pretty quick too!!
It's good to know, but not great for the fuel pump.
I found mine is 3-4 gallons left when the light comes on.
Mine must be scared. I've ran it down to the light a few times, and have never put more than 12 to 12.5 gallons in.
I should point out that mine has an optional 19 gallon tank, so the light coming on with 5 gallons left means adding 14 gallons brings it to Full. Jeeps with a smaller tank will not have the same results.
Same I forget there was a different tank option
Ask the girl at the parts store.

I regularly run mine with the needle below the entire E. Never ran out still.
This thread brings to my mind my poor gas mileage on non windy days.![]()
Back when my TJ was new-ish, we road tripped in it a lot. I tried to keep up with traffic on the interstate at 85+ MPH. It was hard to stay above 80, and the wind in the mountain areas was really brutal at those speeds. And don't get me started on the soft top at 80 MPH...
