Low MPG on windy days?

Without having read the original post all I can say is that a TJ has the aerodynamics of a barn. Of course it's going to have worse MPG on windy days ;)

And running at 85mph! I don’t think I’ve ever driven my Jeep that fast! Push a sheet of plywood at 85 mph and you’d run out of gas pretty quick too!!

Back when my TJ was new-ish, we road tripped in it a lot. I tried to keep up with traffic on the interstate at 85+ MPH. It was hard to stay above 80, and the wind in the mountain areas was really brutal at those speeds. And don't get me started on the soft top at 80 MPH...

Mine must be scared. I've ran it down to the light a few times, and have never put more than 12 to 12.5 gallons in.

I should point out that mine has an optional 19 gallon tank, so the light coming on with 5 gallons left means adding 14 gallons brings it to Full. Jeeps with a smaller tank will not have the same results.

Same I forget there was a different tank option

According to the options list, mine is supposed to have a 19 gallon tank. That would mean 7-ish gallons in reserve for me. I've read on here, that a couple of people have the same readings. It's all good. 😀

I regularly run mine with the needle below the entire E. Never ran out still.

MIne only gets to 3/4 full. When the light comes on I can only add about 11 gal. I THINK it's the 19g tank. I've run it down past the E and it took a little less than 15g. Guess I should carry a can and see just how far it'll go.

Mines nice at 85-90 and I have a softtop. Full sound deadening everywhere though. It’s also completely stock with all season tires which definitely helps. There’s only been a handful of times where I’ve wished I’ve had bigger tires :)
