Bumper test fit

Take your time is the best advice I have on this. I took my time and still would tweak a few things on my install that weren’t present until later. My driver side corner armor off slightly in the back which made the valance not as tight between the two pieces of corner armor. About an 1/8 and likely LJ problems along lack of experience doing corner armor install.

I read this thread a many others before installing the corner armor and still managed to not get quite perfect. Sharing in hopes it helps with your install.

Overall I’m happy with it and no turning back now!

Thanks for the link! I've read a few tips & tricks but I hadn't come across that one yet.

No problem! If I were to do it again I would try and hang both corners then mock the valance before drilling anything. I didn’t have enough clamps though 🤣

I have about 12 C-Clamp locking pliers that i picked up when they were on sale at HF in prep. That's one tip everyone said - you can't have enough clamps...

Little rant about Mopar.

Ordered a new fuel filler bezel, simple enough and mine cracked before the new corner armor went on.

One they sent me has clear defects in discoloration and molding. Or something was spilled on it while in the warehouse.

Mopar says it’s not defective and won’t exchange, that I need to reach out the shipping dealer. Shipping dealer won’t answer the phone at all, sales, service and parts just ring and won’t hang up. So try and start a simple return online, mopar site errors out when trying this multiple times.

Call mopar, they say call the dealer, I say impossible, they try and mopar promptly hangs up on me.

I’ll try again next week for a return but ordered another mopar filler bezel from moparpartsgiant this time vs ordering directly from mopar. What a mess. End rant

In better news I got the holes drilled for the @Fluxor rear bumper. I’ll try and share my process but thanks to @StimpsonJCatt for the write up.

Testing the new carrier as well. I may end up just running the spare but being able to switch back and forth would be cool.

Don’t mind my chopped rear cross member. It was trimmed for my previous bumper.

Sorry for your experience.

I went with this one (not OEM) but seems to be good quality. Will go on my Jeep in the next month.

Heck I went to Camp Jeep there many years ago. IIRC Tim McGraw performed at the time. That Rock pile also looks a bit familiar but I’ve seen so many they all look the same.

We went to quite a few Camp Jeeps when they put them on and they were all awesome. Being a gEEk I really enjoyed the engineering round tables and the kids who were little at the time enjoyed the many activities.

My son has a pic of him between Tony Hawk and Shaun White as well as an autographed T-Shirt from them as they performed in a half pipe on skate boards. Can’t remember which Camp Jeeps that was but I’m sure my grown son still remembers LOL.

Would love to go back to VA and ride some trails there again at some point.

Thanks for sharing!

I completely missed this. It’s a very cool place for good family wheeling and hanging out. Nothing hard core but pin stripes.

We are going to Potts Mtn on black Friday if you’re interested?!

Garage is back to old form. Still waffling back on forth on spare vs no spare. I’ll bring the spare either way but packing may get tricky when the whole family goes.

Tailgate closes better than it ever has without the weight and the additional mass from the hinges and gate skin.

I want to see how it rides without the tire weight. With tire gone and rear steel bumper gone, it’s a lot lighter. I have about 3” left of rear droop on a 10” travel rear shock without any tools or passengers.

The Jeep is looking fantastic. We're fortunate there are still people like @Fluxor creating new and innovative products for our aged but much loved platform!

Thank you! If you want to join us for Potts mountain on black Friday, you are more than welcome!!

I am glad he is making great tj stuff. I think I have just about everything for an LJ @Fluxor makes right now.

Can’t wait to get the bumper finish this weekend. It’s been too cold to paint anything.

Loading up for black Friday wheeling. Finally finished the bumper the install. That was involved and a tight fit.

Also installed the plate and ORO light. Left enough wire in the tailgate to move the plate out a carrier if I go that route later.

Jeep feels lighter after a quick drive around.

Wouldn’t be a forum spec build without the speedway aluminum plate frame .

Need to address a few things.

Front locker is leaking in the diff. I’ll pull it and check over the winter.

Thermostat seems stuck open. Temps were 30 degrees but it was running very cool.

Need to cycle the suspension and make some adjustments.

Driveshaft rubs the cable shifter mounting bolt slightly at certain angles.

Suspension creaks and groans a lot so I’ll be pulling and greasing joints over winter.

New scratches on the flux bumpers and skids but overall a good trip.

Sounds like you had fun and a great test run!
