Does anyone have a service manual for the LJR Rubicon rear locker? I’m trying to figure out the shim tolerance and I’m also looking for a part for the locker. Any help would be great!

Since day one 2003, the Rubicon lockers have been effectively non-serviceable. There are no parts available beyond the actuator occasionally being available from Crown. The only option is to buy a used one to steal parts from.

Shim tolerance is the same as any other locker during a R&P setup.

got it, this pease broke off from its welding. I'm going to see if I can find a welder that can weld it back.

Welding that gear will destroy the heat treating. The heat treatment process for gears is complex. First, the entire gear is heat treated to give it toughness (that's an actual engineering term) to keep the teeth from breaking off the hub. Then, the surfaces of the teeth are flame hardened to give the surfaces a high hardness to resist wear from sliding contact. The depth of the this hardness is very thin (about 1/32"). The reason only the surface is hardened is that when the steel is that hard, it's brittle. The entire tooth being that hard would result in teeth breaking off.

The only way to repair that with a weld is to follow up with re-heat-treating it. You may be able to find someone to do that, but I have no recommendations. Most heat treating companies don't want to deal with one-offs.
